Rogue Legacy 2 developer Cellar Door Games has announced it is delaying the game's early access launch. Initially, Rogue Legacy 2's early access release was intended for July 23, but it will now launch a little under a month later.

Players will now have to wait until August 18 to begin playing Rogue Legacy 2's early access build, giving Cellar Door Games the time it needs to make a more stable product, one worth "more bang for your buck," according to the developer.

In a statement released by the company, it compared game development to football, stating, "It's weird, unpredictable, and we don't know the rules." Apparently, the team has run into some setbacks while developing the game, which led to the delay. Multiple games have been delayed in 2020, many due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, though Cellar Door Games didn't mention that as a cause in its statement.

Luckily, the delay is less than a month, so it isn't that much extra time before it releases into early access. The first Rogue Legacy was wildly popular, and it makes sense that Cellar Door wants some extra time to give the sequel another layer of polish. Rogue Legacy 2 was announced in April, so the turnaround time between the game's announcement and early access launch hasn't been that extreme. Hopefully, it will live up to its predecessor.

Rogue Legacy 2 is currently in development.
