The ROG Chakram X Origin is a joy to look at. Opening the front flap on the box puts the design front and center, with great packaging that helps to accentuate and show off a rather futuristic design. The mouse separates itself from the pack thanks to its sharp edges and the RGB lights embedded beneath the buttons. That said, the design isn't overtly "strange" and it still looks similar to some other popular gaming mice currently available on the market. Visually, the ROG Chakram X Origin strikes a great balance between simplicity and style.

Our eyes were instantly drawn to the curious joystick protruding from the side of the device, along with some large rectangular buttons. This joystick addition gives it a futuristic feeling while simultaneously adding some immense utility. Designers stuck with the traditional ROG color scheme, featuring a sleek black shell accentuated by a default deep red lighting (customizable and changeable to whatever the user wants). Overall, the design strikes a good balance and should appeal to most players, though some may find the mouse a bit bulky at first glance.

For traditionalists, there are still two side buttons that rest above the joystick on the edge.

Unfortunately, in our testing, these buttons can sometimes get in the way. It's easy to accidentally bump into these edge buttons when grabbing the mouse as they're located a bit higher than other mice.
