With ComicCon@Home coming soon and the DC Fandome in August, fans are eagerly awaiting what Rocksteady has in store for their leaked Suicide Squad game. What kind of gameplay will it have? What kind of story will it have? But one question that everybody has been asking is who will be the playable characters?

There are the obvious ones like Harley Quinn, Deadshot, and Captain Boomerang who have been mainstays of Task Force X for years but the team itself has had a revolving cast that could lead to many possibilities. The same goes for the boss fights: there are so many villains across the DC universe that the Squad could fight.

10 Play As: Black Manta

Black Manta From Aquaman

Aquaman's greatest rival has become a favorite amongst DC fans for his deadliness, his somewhat sympathetic origin, and design that is unique in the DC universe. Between him being one of the best DLC characters in Injustice 2 and a standout villain in the 2018 Aquaman movie, he's the perfect material for the Suicide Squad game.

Manta has been a member of the Suicide Squad in the comics which also makes him a potential candidate in the game. His skillset mixing his exo-suit, his Manta-Rays, his swordsmanship, and his rage could make him one of the more fun characters to play as for gamers.

9 Fight: Lex Luthor

Lex Luthor From Injustice

With the chances of a proper Superman game being seemingly non-existent, this would probably be the best way to include a fight with Earth's most evil genius. Amanda Waller sends Task Force X to infiltrate and assassinate Luthor or steal important tech from him which leads to Luthor equipping himself in his iconic Lexo-Suit to battle the Suicide Squad.

With Lex Luthor being one of the most iconic villains in DC history, he could even end up being the big final boss of the game. Much like Batman, he's usually prepared for a lot of scenarios which could also lead to one of the most difficult boss battles.

8 Play As: Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy From Batman: Arkham Knight

Control plant life by using vine-like whips, roots to entangle and strangle enemies, create plant monsters to attack allies, and have an on and off romance with Harley Quinn? Who wouldn't want that? Poison Ivy's botani-kinetic abilities lend to many possible gameplay options including upgrades and loadout to suit the player's style.

Maybe a more stealthy approach using quick takedowns via vines and poison kisses? Maybe an all-out assault with plant monsters and plant-life crushing her enemies? Either way, she would definitely be a useful asset for Amanda Waller on the field.

7 Fight: Amanda "The Wall" Waller

Amanda Waller From Batman: Arkham Origins

While the villains that usually assemble Task Force X and the ones they fight can be pretty bad, there are few that are as evil and hateful than the one who created the Suicide Squad in the first place. She's a manipulative puppet master with no morals or cares for anything but her own agenda.

Readers of the comics have been wanting to see Waller get what's coming to her so another potential final boss could be the Squad returning to Belle Reve prison only to take down Waller for everything she's done. Of course, it would not be an easy task since she is the head of ARGUS but being able to tear down The Wall herself would be satisfying.

6 Play As: Captain Cold

Captain Cold From Injustice 2

Leonard Snart AKA Captain Cold is a character who could provide an interesting dynamic as he's more honorable than most villains in the DC universe due to his moral code and refraining from harming innocent civilians. He and Deadshot could have a lot in common on the same team.

However, like with many games, the ability to freeze enemies in various ways and use other cold-related ability would simply be cool. Yes, pun intended. Captain Cold was another standout character in Injustice 2 so perhaps many of his abilities there would translate well into Suicide Squad.

5 Fight: Bane

Bane From Injustice 2

Bane is not just a threat to the big bad Bat, he's one of the most dangerous villains in the DC world even without his Venom drug to make him stronger. Perhaps it's time for Bane to return to video games after his mysterious absence in Batman: Arkham Knight.

Bane could make for a great story mission on his own with the Suicide Squad needing to infiltrate Santa Prisca in order to stop Bane's operations and of course, bring back a sample of Venom to Amanda Waller for whatever agenda she has planned with it, which leads to an intense boss fight with Bane himself.

4 Play As: Scarecrow

Scarecrow From Batman: The New Adventures

Players have had the chance to fight this crazed doctor in both Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham Knight but Injustice 2 showed the potential of Scarecrow as a playable character.  His mix of combat with the multitude of abilities fear toxin made Jonathan Crane one of the more surprising playable characters of that game.

With a scythe, a creepy design, and likely the return of some horror icon to voice him like in many projects in the past, Scarecrow could play like the main characters from the newer Assassin's Creed games that mix thoughtful combat with stealth for balanced gameplay.

3 Fight: Count Vertigo

Count Vertigo From DC Showcase: Green Arrow

At the risk of making the players'  wanting to throw up from this character's abilities, Count Vertigo could make for one of the more tactical and difficult boss fights. It could start with a mission where Task Force X has to infiltrate the country Vlatava to protect the local princess from being assassinated by Vertigo.

Vertigo's abilities could cause not only disorientation for the player's screen but also could cause the controls to reverse while in effect leading to a fight that players will need to be careful with or they will likely fail. It will also make the players feel more intense seeing how with this mission, an innocent girl's life will be at stake if they fail.

2 Play As: Deathstroke

Deathstroke From Batman: Arkham Origins

Another iconic villain that has become more and more famous over the years thanks to the CW's Arrow, DC Universe's Titans, the Arkham games, and even his cameo in the Justice League movie. While it is true that the character was playable in Batman: Arkham Origins, he was only playable as a bonus character in the challenge mode.

With Suicide Squad, he has a chance to be a part of the story with his own unique story quests and side-missions. His morals and tactics are much different than Deadshot's which could lead to some tension. This game could also expand on his combat gameplay using the multitude of weapons he's known for.

1 Fight: Brainiac

Brainiac From Injustice 2

Task Force X is usually the one in charge of taking down the lesser-known threats in the DC universe but every now and then, they do fight bigger threats. This game could lead to one of those times with Brainiac attempting to collect Earth for his conquest once again, but the Justice League is pre-disposed leading Waller sending out the Suicide Squad.

Taking on Brainiac's robotic armies, infiltrating the Skullship, and bringing down Brainiac could lead to an epic fight that rivals the likes of bosses from Dark Souls/Bloodborne games. Difficult as can be but so satisfying when the player strikes that final blow.
