Over the past couple of years, one of the biggest questions with the gaming community was what Rocksteady Studios was working on. Following its work on Batman: Arkham Knight in 2015, the studio went radio silent, letting fans speculate as to what the studio's next game would be. Rumors and theories attempted to fill the void, with many believing Rocksteady's game would be a Superman focused title, while others were under the impression that it would actually be a game centered on the Justice League.

As fans discovered in 2020 at the first annual DC FanDome, the next game from Rocksteady Studios would instyead be centered on the anti-hero group, The Suicide Squad. Although Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is technically set within the previously created "Arkhamverse" series established by Rocksteady, the game takes players to Metropolis where Task Force X is sent in to take down the brainwashed members of the Justice League, who have seemingly been turned evil by the super villain Brainiac.

There's still plenty that fans don't know about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, as Rocksteady has only shown off two trailers for the game to this point. However, thanks to recent job descriptions on the Warner Media website, fans may have gotten a bit more information on the upcoming open world action title. A job listing for a Lead Animator indicates that the studio is seeking an individual who is interested in "developing and executing high-quality Facial animation." While Rocksteady's listing doesn't specifically mention Suicide Squad, the post mentions the studio being a one project studio, so it can be assumed this is connected like the other listings are.

While the news should no doubt be a welcome with with fans, unfortunately, Rocksteady has yet to really show off any gameplay. Both trailers released for the Suicide Squad at DC FanDome have only been in-engine, offering no glimpses at gameplay. Unlike its other 2022 release partner Gotham Knights, which has shown off ample gameplay to this point, Suicide Squad's lack of gameplay to this point have left some fans concerned that the game isn't quite as far along as many hoped.

One thing fans are hoping to see more of are the various characters from DC. Penguin got a surprise reveal at this year's DC FanDome, though Rocksteady has a wealth of characters it could pull into the game, including the mercenary Deathstroke. Another popular anti-hero, Deathstroke would not only fit right in to the theme of the game, but he also had an ending sequence in Batman: Arkham Origins where the merc is recruited by Amanda Waller, a narrative thread which has yet to be resolved.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is scheduled to release in 2022 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
