Rockstar Games has been promoting Grand Theft Auto 5 for over eight years now, but while it's impressive that the game has managed to stay in the spotlight for so long, a good portion of the fanbase has understandably become restless with it. They don't want to play GTA 5 for the entirety of another console generation, which they made clear by dislike-bombing the GTA 5 next-gen YouTube trailer.

Fans want to play the next big title in the Grand Theft Auto series, that logically being Grand Theft Auto 6. So they've spent the last few years pestering Rockstar about it, doing so by either plastering anything GTA 6 related across the publisher's various social media outlets or by indulging themselves in the rumors and speculation surrounding the unconfirmed title. But now it seems Rockstar may finally be getting fed up with the constant reminder that GTA 5 is not GTA 6.

Over on the publisher's YouTube channel, fans can no longer mention "GTA6" in any of the comments they post on Rockstar's videos. From the looks of things, comments that contain certain phrases regarding Grand Theft Auto 6 have been blocked from appearing on any of the videos in the channel's roster. Essentially, anyone that wants to continue reminding Rockstar of the demand for GTA 6 will have to do so in a creative fashion.

The new filter was brought to light by Grand Theft Auto fan and Twitter user Not_StrangeMan, who discovered it when trying to comment "GTA6" on a YouTube video Rockstar posted over 15 years ago. Using a side-by-side comparison, Not_StrangeMan shows that the comment appears on the video when viewing it from the account that posted it, but it didn't appear when they switched to a different one. That said, they also discovered that the filter only blocks certain variations of GTA 6. For example, "GTA6" won't appear on videos, but "GTA VI" will.

Exactly why Rockstar decided to remove Grand Theft Auto 6 from its YouTube remains a mystery as the company didn't block all variations of the title from the channel, nor did it block any variations of the title across the rest of its social media, meaning people can still nag the publisher about it on places like Twitter. If anything, all Rockstar's done is make people more determined to mention GTA 6 on everything it posts from now on — but maybe that's the point.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions release March 2022.
