Some good news out of the video game development sector today. The studio that brought PUBG Mobile, which is currently in Season 3, as well as a Rockstar Game veteran game dev are teaming up to make AAA, next-gen console games.

With the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5's release dates not affected by the Coronavirus, players and devs alike are starting to look forward to those next gen graphics. One studio in particular is really ready for it; Lightspeed Studio announced its formation and a tiny teaser for its flagship game.

LightSpeed and Quantum Studio are teaming up to make Lightspeed Studio, a development team that will be lead by former Rockstar Game's Steve Martin. The press release states that the studio will "focus on the development and publishing of AAA titles for consoles." Martin will be the Executive Producer for Development. It was also mentioned that this studio will be attempting to move away from the crunch culture as it develops "tactical competition, casual and social, MMORPGs;" even Naughty Dog made a reference to crunch culture in their latest hit, The Last of Us 2.

As part of its core values, LightSpeed Studio will establish a crunch-free and inclusive culture for all of its team members while pushing the games industry to adopt the same practices. The studio is committed to building the highest quality games as well as using forward-thinking products to ensure world-class products.

Although some bad news came out for Rockstar Games as stocks plummet with the announcement of Dan Houser's retirement this year, it looks like at least one former Rockstar employee is looking to bigger things.
