Psyonix announces that Season 2 of Rocket League's revamped online mode begins this December with a new Rocket Pass, more rewards, and some challenges for players to complete.

Part of the recently-revamped season mode and push toward Rocket League's free-to-play model, Season 2 will provide fans with a new goalpost to reach as more than 70 tiers of player levels will be available to unlock.

Season 2 introduces a new customizable aspect to the game with the addition of Player Anthems, unlockable music that plays once a goal is scored. Players can earn the music through both the free and paid Rocket Pass, along with a slew of additional new items introduced into Rocket League.

The Player Anthems will also play during major moments of every game, so every time there's an epic save it will be highlighted by a song that celebrates the achievement. This also occurs when the MVP is selected on the final results screen, adding a bit more flare.

Rocket League's change to a free-to-play model with incremental seasons has been a success for Psyonix. Not only has the model introduced a whole new audience to the game but Rocket League hit an all-time high of 1 million concurrent players in the fall, which is a major milestone for a five-year-old game.

While much of the recent success could be the results of stay-at-home mandates thanks to Covid-19, Rocket League won't be in a drought anytime soon as the game makes its way to next-gen consoles with a better frame-rate, higher resolution, and more players.

Rocket League is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X
