Longtime vehicular sports game Rocket League could be crossing over with a legendary Marvel franchise: The X-Men. New leaks suggest an upcoming crossover pack for the game, which could add new Rocket League cosmetic options for players and fans.

Even across multiple console generations, Rocket League has proved to be a classic and one of the best indie sports games of all time. One source of its success has been its enduring gameplay formula, which hasn't changed on a fundamental level almost since it originally launched in 2015. The seemingly simplistic setup of driving cartoony, rocket-powered vehicles around a pitch in pursuit of a giant, floaty ball is devilishly hard to master, and players have dedicated years to gaining proficiency. Along the way, numerous cosmetic packs, including many branded crossovers, add options to help players express themselves visually in-game.

Potential Rocket League Crossover with the X-Men Leaked

The latest brand crossover with Rocket League could involve the X-Men, if a new leak from Twitter user ShiinaBR proves correct. According to a post from ShiinaBR (which sources fellow leakers SamLeakss and RocketPlanetGG), an X-Men x Rocket League crossover could launch as early as April 23, 2024. The leaks didn't suggest what sort of content would arrive as part of a Rocket League crossover with Marvel's mutant superheroes, but given the recent release of the X-Men 97 animated series on Disney+, the cosmetics could be based on that particular incarnation of the iconic superhero team. As with other bundles, an X-Men-themed Rocket League bundle could contain toppers, skins, and special effects themed after characters from the series or the comics.

Another potential crossover that could be coming to Rocket League as Season 14 goes on involves a different Disney-owned franchise: The Mandalorian. The Star Wars-set TV series has already appeared in Rocket League before, but the same leak that outed the possible X-Men bundle also mentioned a "Beskar Bundle" scheduled for May 3, 2024. Beskar is the name of "Mandalorian steel," a special metal used to form the Mandalorian warriors' iconic, blaster-resistant armor.

Rocket League continues to impress with its longevity, despite the presence of numerous competitors and other pursuits vying for players' attention. Its easy-to-grasp mechanics and the almost universal appeal of combining fun cars and football has made it an unusual standard-bearer for all-ages competitive fun that can be had across platforms and generations. Rocket League has even made its way into Fortnite, with some Rocket League cars becoming playable in Fortnite Rocket Racing as well as the standard Battle Royale mode.
