Robert Pattinson's The Batman and a popular version of Superman unite in fan art that should intrigue fans for a possible crossover. The DCEU found great success in cinemas and on television when they re-contextualized The Dark Knight in The Batman and the Man of Steel in Superman and Lois. Recent fan art depicted these two iconic DC superheroes in the same location, which could give DC potential ideas for a crossover even though they play the characters on different mediums.RELATED: Dwayne Johnson Thrown Under The Bus For Shazam 2 Box Office FailureThe Rahal Arts Twitter account posted a picture of Pattinson's Batman and Hoechlin's Superman standing side-by-side. "I think Tyler Hoechlin Superman would fit perfectly in the Matt Reeves universe. #thebatman #SupermanAndLois #mattreeves," read the caption. It's unclear if the two are in Gotham or Metropolis, but that may have been intentional. The photo seems to display an ambiguous color palette, thus combining the light-hearted Metropolis and the despair of Gotham City.

While Pattinson made his first appearance as Batman last year, Hoechlin has been playing Superman for years, dating back to 2016 when he played him in Supergirl. Since then, he played Superman in Arrowverse shows such as The Flash, Arrow, Batwoman, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow before getting his own show as the character in Superman and Lois. It appears for the time being that the two of them will be involved in their DC universes moving forward, though there don't appear to be any plans for a crossover shortly as of now.

But fan art like this has got to make fans wonder, what if DC did something like this sometime down the line? They've had a Superman-Batman crossover in movies and television in the past. But what about crossing over an experienced Superman with an inexperienced Batman? That makes for an interesting dynamic not previously touched upon in the past. Would the experienced Kryptonian impact the Prince of Gotham's state of mind? Would it turn him into a more compassionate man, or would their opposite points of view clash to the point where they fight? Given that DC has tried that before to disastrous results, maybe they won't return to that.

With DC starting over, they should be open to just about any idea. James Gunn has proven to be a creative mastermind thanks to his work on The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. Now that he's calling the shots over the entire DC Universe, maybe it's not the worst idea to put Pattinson and Hoechlin in one place. Since both have proven capable of playing the franchise's biggest names, is putting them in the same movie and/or TV show the worst idea? Since they've come back from worse, why not?

The Batman and Superman and Lois can be streamed on HBO Max.
