Rider's Republic is one of the latest in Ubisoft's stable of open-world games. While the Far Cry and Assassin's Creed games are about fighting, Rider's Republic takes a more peaceful but equally painful route of extreme sports, letting players bike, ski, and wingsuit through the titular republic's hazardous terrain.

But while the game gives players plenty to do, Rider's Republic doesn't let players access all their tricks and equipment at once. They have to unlock them, with conditions ranging from completing challenges, earning stars, and collecting relics. Two of the harder-to-learn tricks for the bike are whip and tailwhip. While they aren't strictly necessary, having more tricks at their disposal helps players rack up higher scores.

Riders Republic Destroyed Bike Relic

Preconditions for Rider's Republic's Whip and Tailwhip

Before players can perform a whip, they need to find one of Rider's Republic's hidden relics. Namely, they need the destroyed bike relic, which is found in the Zion area of Pine Creek, pictured above. It should look like a dented bike wheel sticking out of the middle of a river.

Once they find the relic, the player needs to make sure they have the right equipment. While the whip and tailwhip are bike tricks, not all bikes can do them. The whip can only be done on a downhill bike, while the tailwhip can only be done on a freestyle bike.

Lastly, players need to make sure they have the right control scheme. They need to use the trickster control scheme, which lets players do tricks using the analog sticks instead of buttons.

How to Perform the Whip and Tailwhip

For both the whip and tailwhip, the player needs to find a jump that gives them enough airtime to perform the trick and land safely. If they're having trouble, players can turn on Rider's Republic's landing auto-assist. That being said, the game does offer bonus points if the player can land manually.

For the whip, the player needs to hold down the right or left trigger, and then hold back on the stick. The direction the bike's back wheel turns depends on which trigger was pulled.

For the tailwhip, the player needs to hold both triggers, and then hold left or right on the stick. This time the stick determine's the trick's direction.

No player should aspire to be a one-trick pony. The moment they learn these two tricks, they should hunt down the game's other relics, and aim for a complete moveset.

Rider's Republic is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
