Adult Swim has been around for more than two decades, and it has produced a number of classic shows oriented toward older audiences. Rick and Morty debuted in 2013, and since then, it has become the best animated series that the network has produced. It centers around Rick Sanchez, an alcoholic mad scientist, and his grandson Morty, who serves as the series' guiding compass. The pair go on crazy adventures, and they are often joined by other members of their family.

Over the course of five seasons, fans have met several minor characters from different worlds who have made one-off appearances. Others have had small recurring roles. Now that Season 6 is underway, the time has come to identify some of the show's best minor characters.

9 Mr. Nimbus

Mr. Nimbus Arriving At Rick's House

Rick has a lot of enemies, but Mr. Nimbus has the honor of being his self-proclaimed nemesis. He is a fish-like anthromorph who wields a trident and wears a speedo, and he can control water and sea life. He is essentially a flamboyant parody of DC's Aquaman.

He and Rick were once close friends who went on adventures together, but disagreements caused them to turn into enemies. Nimbus has the ability to control the police, which led to an amusing scene, and after rescuing Rick and his grandchildren, he has an intimate encounter with Beth and Jarry.

8 Squanchy

Squanchy Meeting Rick On Another Planet

At first glance, Squanchy is just another animated animal, but he is actually a cat-like anthropomorphic creature. He and Rick are very good friends, partly because he loves drinking, and when Morty first meets him, he is performing a lewd act on himself in the family's garage.

He loves to party, and he is incredibly loyal to Rick, as evidenced by the fact that he fought Tammy in order for Rick and his family to escape from both the Galactic Federation and the Gromflomites. His fate is still unknown.

7 Unity

Unity Speaking With Rick

Rick has traveled the multiverse, and he has had a number of relationships, but only a handful of those relationships have stuck with him. Unity is a hivemind comprised of multiple alien races, and when Rick runs into her, he tells Morty and Summer that they used to date.

When Unity reveals its plan to become god, Rick decides to get back together with it. The two have a very intimate relationship, but it causes Unity to lose control of some of its aliens and war breaks out. Unity ultimately breaks up with Rick after realizing that they cannot be together, and Rick is so depressed that he attempts to take his own life.

6 Mr. Meeseeks

Rick's Family Releases Mr. Meeseeks

There is plenty of technology in sci-fi that doesn't make sense, and that includes the Mr. Meeseeks Box. As the name suggests, it is used to summon Mr. Meeseeks, a tall, powder-blue humanoid creature with a round head and elongated limbs. There can be more than one Meeseeks at a time, and once they finish their task, they vanish.

In general, Mr. Meeseeks is very cheerful and helpful, but if he cannot complete a task, he will be unable to vanish and his mental state will deteriorate until he goes insane. If there are multiple Mr. Meeseeks suffering from this, they will kill each other.

5 Gearhead

Gearhead Boring Rick At Summer's Party

Rick and Morty fans have seen their fair share of robotic individuals, but Revolio Clockberg, Jr. is unique because of his relationship with Rick. He is not a traditional sci-fi android, in fact, he belongs to a bio-mechanical alien race known as the Gear People.

In his first appearance, he attends a party and explains the Gear Wars to Rick, who is bored out of his mind. In Season 2, he betrays Rick and Morty in order to claim a valuable interdimensional being for himself, and he reveals that he's always hated Rick. They end up reconciling after they get high together, and he takes Morty's Vindicator jacket to try and pick up women.

4 President Curtis

The President Talking Down To Rick

President Curtis first appeared in Season 2, and he has been a recurring character and part-time antagonist ever since. He is blatantly sexist, and his authoritative personality often clashes with Rick's autonomous lifestyle.

He considers the United States to be the entire world, and when Rick and Morty save the world, it is made clear to Curtis that the US just happens to be on the planet. He's been Rick's unwilling ally, but the two did fight each other, and it was a bloody and entertaining fight that revolved around Curtis refusing to take a selfie with Morty.

3 Noob-Noob

Noob Noob Cleaning The Vindicator's Ship

It was only a matter of time before Rick and Morty parodied the superhero genre, and they did so in Season 3 with Vindicators 3: The Return of Worldender. It was in this episode that fans met Noob-Noob, a small masked character who served as the Vindicator's intern, but they used him more as a janitor.

He actually likes Rick's humor, but he is also forced to clean up after him when he gets drunk and trashes the Vindicators' base. What makes Noob-Noob so memorable is the fact that Rick himself admitted that he values Noob-Noob more than anyone, including Morty.

2 Mr. Poopybutthole

A Picture Of Mr. Poopybutthole smiling & Waving

Mr. Poopybutthole is a very close friend of the Smith family, so much so that no one has a bad memory of him. He was a planet-wide superstar in his dimension, and he decided to seek refuge with the Smith family in order to live a normal life.

He's been on a number of adventures with the family, and his near-death was surprisingly emotional. It is clear from his appearance that he is a cartoonish and zany character who is happy about virtually everything, and he knows how to keep Rick and everyone in a good mood.

1 Birdperson

Younger Rick & Birdperson In War Together

Birdperson is one of Rick's oldest friends, and he has known Morty since he was a baby. He first appeared in the final episode of the first season, where he attended Summer's party, and it was there that he met her friend Tammy, who he would later marry.

After being killed, he is resurrected as Phoenixperson, a literal killing machine. He is very wise and will offer advice to anyone who will listen. Birdperson is well aware of Rick's selfish and manipulative nature, and when push comes to shove, he values his integrity more than their friendship.
