While some fans preferred the more claustrophobic setting and gameplay of Resident Evil 7, there's no denying that last year's Resident Evil Village was still one of the best horror experiences of last year. Resident Evil Village saw Ethan Winters travel to an isolated village in Eastern Europe in search of his kidnaped daughter, Rose. On top of the game's main story mode, Resident Evil Village also included an additional "Mercenaries" mode. First introduced in Resident Evil 4, this mode sees the player fight off waves of enemies, similar to other horde modes like Call of Duty Zombies or Left 4 Dead.

Recently, Capcom announced that Resident Evil Village would be receiving some DLC, in a pack called the "Winter's Expansion," releasing on October 28 of this year. This expansion pack adds new story chapters, includes an optional third-person mode, and brings some hefty updates to the game's Mercenaries mode. Named "Additional Orders," this update to Resident Evil Village's Mercenaries mode adds three new playable characters, one of which is the most iconic character in the entire game, Lady Dimitrescu.

Resident Evil 8 Lady Dimitrescu Mercenaries Gameplay

When the Additional Orders update was announced, Capcom revealed that Chris Redfield, Karl Heisenberg, and the tall vampire herself, Lady Dimitrescu would be coming to the game as playable characters. It was stated that each character would have their own unique set of weapons and abilities, and based on the recently released trailer, that certainly seems to be the case.

Just a few days ago, Capcom released a first look trailer for the Resident Evil Village's Additional Orders DLC. Though the trailer is very brief, coming in at just under a minute and a half, eagle-eyed fans can spot quite a few of these new playable characters' movesets. It seems as though each of these characters are going to play quite differently, with Chris Redfield using his silenced SMG from the end of Resident Evil 8's story, Heisenberg using his electric-infused hammer, and Lady Dimitrescu using her terrifying extendable claws.

Along with these extendable claws, it also seems like players may be able to summon in Lady D's daughters to assist in combat, with the trailer showing a swarm of bats encircling an enemy as they're ripped to shreds, before revealing one of her daughters slicing through a foe with ease. After a few shots of Lady Dimitrescu tearing through a few lycans with her claws, she's spotted throwing a dressing cabinet at her opponents, which shatters upon impact and staggers a group of enemies.

The brief trailer then shows Lady Dimitrescu using her iconic opera-length cigarette holder to fire, what seems to be, an explosive round at a group of lycans in front of her. This explosion sets a few of them on fire, which presumably leaves them open to subsequent attacks from either Lady D herself, or her lethal daughters. The Resident Evil Village Additional Orders trailer ends with Lady Dimitrescu picking up a lycan by its throat, and slamming it into the ground, splattering blood all over the ground underneath it. Throughout the trailer, it seems as though Lady Dimitrescu's otherworldly height is captured in-game, with the first-person perspective appearing visibly taller than Chris Redfield or Heisenberg's perspective. Lady Dimitrescu is one of the most memorable characters in gaming in recent years, and playing as her looks like it'll be an absolute blast.

Resident Evil 8 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
