Houses Beneviento is unlike any other area in the game. Being quick on the pistol will help in most areas of Resident Evil Village, but House Beneviento is bigger on puzzles than most other sections. Even the boss fight is really just an elaborate puzzle-solving situation.
Gamers who are looking to get through the story of Resident Evil Village should start here. This guide is purely to get through the main story; completionists who are looking for all the secrets and collectibles will want to explore a bit in each area.
For gamers that haven't reached this area yet, please consider starting with the walkthrough for the last section.
Getting Inside
From the start, there is only a single path forward, marked by some grisly lynched bodies and fog. Keep going for a while.
Finally, the road ends at a large gravesite. To the back-left of the area, find a door. Enter the Family Photo into the mailslot to open it.
Head through a small hallway.
Enter the elevator at the end and request that the elevator go up. At the top, the path will once again return to a single-option pathway. Press on.
The conclusion of this path is the entrance is House Beneviento. Head inside.
Escaping The Basement
The house may appear small, but it can be complex. Stay on this floor, look at the opposite side of the room, and enter the door next to a chair.
Look right and go inside the door just left of a doll.
Follow the hallway, enter another elevator, and hit the down button.
This leads to a hallway with various doors to go in and out of, most of which aren't useful just yet. Go left, right, then left again, and straight through two wooden double doors.
Pick up the flask from the doll and wait for a moment as the lights shut off.
The lights will come back on and Ethan will be in a room with the infamous Mia Doll puzzle. Take apart the Mia doll on the table. Examine the left arm to find a symbol placed in the socket and remember it for later. Examine the left shoulder to obtain the Silver Key. Head over to the other side of the body and start at the leg. Examine the right leg to obtain the Winding Key. Examine the right hand to get a Blood Covered Ring. Lastly, the right eye can be turned to reveal an image on the pupil.
Players are supposed to run the ring under the sink to wash off the blood and find the code. For those eager to get out of this room as soon as possible, the doll workshop door code is as follows:
- 052911
Leave and head back down the hallway, toward the elevator.
A door will creak open on the left side just before Ethan gets to the elevator room. Go inside.
There is a music box with a bride and groom toward the back of the room, on a workbench. Use the Winding Key acquired from the Mia doll to open it up. Players can guess and check by listening to the melody and make adjustments or get the solution to the music box puzzle right here. A small drawer will open, giving Ethan some Tweezers.
Exit to the right and go back into the room with the Mia doll. Open its mouth and use the Tweezers to get ahold of the Film.
Go back out, this time all the way back to the elevator. Use the white door to the right.
Solving the Film Puzzle in this room entails going over the clues on the note by the film. Or, if that's a bit much, check out the order here from left to right:
- Dolls > Village of Shadows Book > Baby > Music Box > Wedding Ring
A short film will play, then the screen will fall and a bookcase will move, revealing a secret area.
Inside of this area is a doll on a shelf that is holding some Scissors. Take them from it. Ethan can now cut areas blocked by cloth.
Duck down and find some bloody bandages blocking an exit. Cut through them.
Go left, straight, then through a white door on the right. Open the door with a silver cross on it to return, once again, to the Mia Doll room.
Cut the bandages off of the Mia doll and remove the piece blocking the heart area. Pull out the Brass Medallion.
Instead of using the double doors to leave, exit down the stone hallway on the side.
At the end of this hallway is a door. Use the Brass Medallion on the empty slot. For the other two slots, rotate them to match the icons found on the doll earlier. The bottom one is the three bumps and the top left has the bird.
Descend down a long cellar corridor and hop into a ladder leading into a well, just like what was pictured in the film. Pick up the Breaker Box Key in the water at the bottom, then go all the way back up, through the doll room, and back to the elevator.
This will cause a fetal monster to spawn that kills Ethan instantly if it catches him. It can't be killed but, similar to the early encounters with Lady Dimitrescu, it can be kited away from the elevator.
Just to the left of the elevator is the breaker box. Use the key and take the Relief of a Child statuette jammed inside.
Navigating this section will be largely dependent on how players decide to lead around the fetal monster. The quickest path is into the film room, through the previously bandaged secret exit, then, instead of going right and through the white doorm look left and stop a door that requires the Relief of a Child statuette.
Go down the stairs, open a white door to enter a kitchen, then another white door to enter a bedroom. On the far side, find a fuse in a simialr breaker box to the one by the elevator.
Return upstairs and inetract with the breaker box by the elevator. Go inside, hit the up button, and finally escape the basement.
Boss Fight And Escape
Go back as if to exit the house. Once Ethan reaches the living room area, there will be a cutscene that triggers a boss fight with Angie Beneviento. Players have to find the doll, Angie. If Ethan takes too long, he'll be attacked.
Angie has a typical route she follows, but occasionally will mix in some alternate locations. Usually, she goes from upstairs, in the study, then back in the living room, and finally by the elevator Ethan came up from. If she switches it up, follow the sound of her voice. She also never appears in the same spot twice.
After finding her a third time, Ethan will finish her off. Upon the end of the cutscene, Ethan will find the body of Donna Beneviento in front of them with another piece of the Winged Key on her body. This turns the key into the Four-Winged Unborn Key.
Pick up the Legs Flask next to the wooden double doors, then exit out of the doors to get back outside. Return to the village the same way that Ethan came in: follow the path, take the elevator down, go past the graves, and return to the Duke. Enemies will spawn in increased numbers during the during back, so be careful.
When returning to the area with the Duke, continue straight across and spot the symbol on the doors demanding the newly-crafted Four-Winged Unborn Key. Use it and enter the Reservoir section.
Resident Evil Village is available now for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
