Crafting is important, but timing when it comes to crafting is even more crucial. When players have enough resources to craft ammo or health, they'll want to do it. But, like in the base game, players will find that a lot of consumables have the same ingredients. So when they're in a boss fight, they can craft mid-fight, provided they have enough to do so.
