Taking players back to the iconic locales of Resident Evil Village, the Shadows of Rose DLC sees players revisit twisted versions of the base game’s titular town including House Beneviento and, of course, Castle Dimitrescu. Within these familiar places are brand-new puzzles that require solving before players can progress in Resident Evil Village: Shadows of Rose.

One such puzzle is found in Castle Dimitrescu’s Gallery on the second floor of the Main Hall, which can be accessed once players have acquired the Bronze Mask. Featuring a veritable zoo of painted animals and insects on display, players must figure out the correct order of these creatures before they can solve the puzzle and collect the Triocular Key.

This guide will show players how to complete Castle Dimitrescu’s Gallery Painting Puzzle in Resident Evil Village: Shadows of Rose.

Where To Find The Snake Painting

Before players can complete the painting puzzle in the gallery, they must first have acquired the painting of a snake from the Guest Room in Castle Dimitrescu. This location can only be accessed after players have completed the Hall of Ablution puzzle, retrieved the Silver Mask, and escaped the Basement.

Upon reentering the Hall of Ablution, exit and take a right, following the hallway around into the guest room. Head through the double doors to the left of the typewriter and find the Snake Painting on a console table besides the bathtub.

How To Complete The Gallery Painting Puzzle

Entering the Gallery, players will notice that two of the six paintings cannot be removed from their frames, these being the Moth and the Wolf. On the far wall sits a plaque that reads: “The predators stand united, each staring down their prey.”

In classic Resident Evil style, the key to solving this puzzle is to place each painting in the correct order, with predators on the right side looking directly at their prey on the left.

The first step players should take is to pick up the misplaced Frog, Sheep, and Spider Paintings till there are four empty frames in the room.

Next, place the Spider Painting directly across from the Moth, and place the Sheep Painting across from the Wolf. Finally, stick the Snake Painting between the Spider and Wolf, and put the Frog Painting between the Sheep and Moth.

With the pictures in the correct frames, the paintings will lift and the bars at the far end of the room will drop to reveal a box containing the Triocular Key, which can be used to obtain the Shotgun and progress further in Shadows of Rose.
