Resident Evil Village is full of optional objectives that are a dream-come-true for completionists. Regardless of what type of gamer a player is, odds are that they've come across some outhouses in Resident Evil Village. Some of them contain helpful items, while some are just there as a red herring. There are 10 outhouses throughout the village, and anyone who opens the doors to all of them will earn the "When You Gotta Go..." achievement/trophy.
Achievement hunters will find themselves completing quite a few odd tasks in Resident Evil Village. For example, they might obsess over every single transaction with The Duke in an effort to possess a very specific amount of money for the Lucky Number 7 achievement/trophy. Tracking down every outhouse can be a tedious task that some players aren't excited about performing. That's why this short guide will highlight the location of all 10 outhouses with a short explanation of how to reach each one.
Some players might decide to put off the outhouse hunt until they've reached a point where they can access them all in one go. If that's the case, the best time to knock them all out is after confronting the third lord, Moreau. The final outhouse that can be found chronologically is in Moreau's Reservoir. Furthermore, one outhouse will be locked behind a door that can only be opened with Moreau's Crank.
Outhouse #1
The first outhouse is in the East Old Town area. Players can open it soon after arriving in the village for the first time, during a segment where they are confronting a horde of lycans. It's possible to open this outhouse before the bell tolls and the lycans flee. Any player who misses this early opportunity to open the outhouse will get another opportunity later in the game, after encountering a werewolf and obtaining the Crank tool.
Outhouse #2
The second outhouse is located right outside Luiza's house. Players will get their first chance to open this one while helping Elena and her father get to safety.
Outhouse #3
The third outhouse is near a residence just east of the Maiden of War statue in the village's main plaza, where a Crystal Fragment can be found.
Outhouse #4
The fourth outhouse will likely be found while trying to access the house with the red chimney. After passing through a hole in the back wall of the stables, the outhouse will be on the right.
Outhouse #5
The fifth outhouse is a short walk away from #4, near a well just outside of the Workshop.
Outhouse #6
The sixth outhouse is near the house where the Maestro's Collection can be found. Players will likely pass by after obtaining Luthier's Key to open the residence's door.
Outhouse #7
The seventh outhouse is near a gate which requires the Iron Insignia Key to unlock. Players will come across this outhouse on their way to the house with the red chimney as part of the story.
Outhouse #8
The eighth outhouse is another one that players will find as they try to enter the house with the red chimney, as this one is located just behind that same residence.
Outhouse #9
The ninth outhouse is in a nook at the western side of a home in House Beneviento's area. After encountering Donna and Angie and overcoming their morbid puzzles, players will have a chance to search the area and open this outhouse door.
Outhouse #10
The tenth outhouse is near Moreau's Reservoir. Players will reach a building that houses the sluice gate controls as part of a story objective. After heading out back and opening this final outhouse door, the "When You Gotta Go..." achievement can be claimed at last.
