With Resident Evil Village slated to launch tomorrow, fans are more excited than ever to get stuck into the latest iteration of the seminal horror franchise. The creepy sequel will pick up the story of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard's Ethan Winters, who must venture to the game's titular village in an effort to save his daughter.

With the game's release less than 24 hours away, Capcom has debuted a brief but intrigue-packed launch trailer, teasing some of Resident Evil Village's biggest mysteries. The promo clocks in at just under 35 seconds long but does a great job of leaving fans hungry for more, as it sets up Ethan's central objective and the adversaries he'll have to battle along the way.

Alongside teasing Ethan's arrival at the village and his quest to rescue Rose, the trailer shows off a new look at Resident Evil staple Chris Redfield, who will seemingly be filling a more antagonistic role throughout Village. The brief clip shows the character suited up in tactical gear alongside a group of fellow soldiers, confirming that Chris won't be alone in his cryptic mission. Other shots that make the cut are a room filled with eerie dolls and an underground cavern containing a giant mutated growth.

For those who haven't been keeping up with the marketing for Village, the game will offer several new changes to the style of gameplay first introduced in Biohazard, as Ethan's journey into the village sees him go head to head with new enemies, wield an arsenal of fresh guns, and employ a unique range of combat mechanics. One of the biggest changes will be the village itself, which will offer Ethan opportunities to discover treasures and upgrade his abilities, as he hunts animals to make stat-boosting meals. He can also purchase items off of the Duke, a replacement for Resident Evil 4's iconic merchant.

When the game launches tomorrow, players will get access to the main campaign and the Mercenaries mode, which tasks players with battling hordes of enemies and wracking up points. Village will also eventually feature a multiplayer mode known as RE:Verse, which was originally planned to launch alongside the game's main release. It was pushed back to this summer, but will still be free for everyone who snagged themselves a copy of Resident Evil Village. The online spin-off sees players assume the role of iconic Resident Evil heroes and villains, as they go head to head in an effort to amass the most points possible.

Resident Evil Village will be available on May 7 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
