With the launch trailer dropping a day before its official release, the wait for Resident Evil Village is finally nearing its end. For some players, they've already jumped in head first to guide Ethan in his search for Rosemary among the mysterious Village and surrounding areas. However, even at the lowest difficulties, mistakes can be made that forces players to backtrack and consider a different strategy. More or less, knowing how to save in Resident Evil Village can save a lot of time, if not health and ammunition.

What's notable about Resident Evil Village is that it features the return of a variety of fan-favorite features from previous Resident Evil titles. In addition to the return of the typewriter, Village also brings back the classic Mercenaries mode that first appeared in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Despite some gameplay footage leaking early, there's no telling what more homages Capcom made to previous titles, though when it comes to saving via typewriter, it's definitely less stress-inducing.

How To Save in Resident Evil Village

Essentially, all players need to do is discover where a typewriter is located, interact with it, and follow the prompts to save. In earlier installments, including Resident Evil 4, players were required to have ink ribbons in their inventory in order to save their progress. The gameplay experience has long since shifted to an action-focused one, meaning that inventory space was better suited for ammunition and crafting materials than saving. Still, Resident Evil 7 had a similarly limited method of saving for its toughest difficulty, so anything is possible.

Save locations aren't too difficult to discover, although they'll definitely require some minor exploration to find. No worries though, as Resident Evil Village isn't as scary as RE7, so players should feel sufficiently safe in certain areas. That said, conservation of resources is just as important as knowledge of the save point locations, especially if players may attempt Resident Evil Village's hardest difficulty in the future.

If not save room locations or other nostalgic homages, there are probably tons of references in Resident Evil Village that have yet to be discovered. Someone already noticed lyrics to a Radiohead song written on a random object in-game. Beyond that, anticipation is encouraging modders to tweak the demo version, whether it be extending the timer for more exploration or transforming all enemy NPCs into a certain purple dinosaur.

Resident Evil Village will be available May 7 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
