Ethan's adventure in Resident Evil: Village really starts to open up after you dispatch Lady Dimitrescu and make your way back towards the village. Along the way, you'll pass through the Altar, where The Duke has set up shop. This location, however, is a bit different than his others. You'll not only find more goods available in his stock but you'll also be introduced to a new cooking mechanic. If Ethan can scrounge up the right ingredients, The Duke will cook them for him free of charge. The meals will provide Ethan with a series of physical upgrades, including more health, faster movement speed, and better guarding.

But before you'll gain access to all of that, and before you can continue your adventure through the surrounding areas, you'll need to locate "the house with the red chimney." Although it's unclear why The Duke knows exactly where to go concerning Ethan's quest, he points you in direction of the house, suggesting that there is something there vital to progressing your journey. If you're struggling a bit to find the House with the Red Chimney, here's where you need to go.

Heading Back To The Village

To find the house, you'll need to travel back down into the village from The Altar. You can do so by unlocking the red door near The Duke's shop and proceeding down the hillside. You'll be in familiar territory as this is the area where you saw the first Goat of Warding. Looking to the right you'll notice an open gate, and you'll need to proceed through it to progress because the road you would normally take is blocked by debris.

  • Go through the open gate.
  • Wrap around through the houses.
  • Find the Tractor in the Roadway.

After making your way through the area (it's pretty linear, but do make sure you loot the houses nearby). Eventually, you'll come to a dead-end, where a large tractor blocks your path. Examining the rear of the tractor will point Ethan to a jack that seems to be missing its crank.

Finding The Jack Handle For The Tractor

Now you'll need to find a way to move the tractor.

  • Enter The Warehouse Area
  • Find the locked cabinet.
  • Discover the combination code.
  • Obtain the Jack Handle and the M1911.

If you look to the left of the tractor and down the roadway, you'll spot a large gate with a foreboding "Do Not Enter" sign plastered on the front of it. In true Horror Survival fashion, your job is to completely ignore the warning and head through the gate. You can bypass the gate by shooting the lock but you can conserve ammo if you slash it away with the knife.

Once you pass the gate, head to the small shed on the left side of the area and venture inside. In the back corner of the room under a small window, you'll find a locked cabinet, and near the door where you come in, a photograph (sitting on the table). Examining the photograph and turning it over will give you a clue as to what to do next. If you're struggling a bit, turn around from the table and head to the window that is near the doorway you came through to enter the shed. Looking outside you'll notice some colored numbers. Enter them (from left most to right) in order on the combination lock of he cabinet.

Once the cabinet opens, you'll gain access to the Jack Handle and an M1911 Handgun.

Finding The House With The Red Chimney

Once you've obtained the crank, you'll want to immediately head back down the roadway and place it into the jack behind the tractor. Doing so will activate the jack and elevate the tractor just far enough that Ethan can crawl beneath it to proceed.

  • Get past the Tractor.
  • Head down the road and around the bend.
  • Enter the Iron Insignia Door.
  • Climb the Ladder.
  • Jump over the wall to the left.
  • Climb onto the roof of the house.
  • Enter the hole in the roof.

Once you're past the tractor you'll need to head right, down the long road and around the corner to the left. Doing so should put you in familiar territory. You'll definitely remember this area from the beginning when you were forced to survive the Lycan attack. Look for the Iron Insignia Door near the house and unlock it with your key. Once you're through the gate you'll want to climb the ladder to gain access to the rooftop. Once there, look to your left and jump down into the yard over the cement wall. The house inside this yard is the one you're looking for, but the front door is locked.

To gain access to it, you'll need to walk around the back, find the ladder, and climb up to the roof. Once on the roof, navigate yourself until you spot a huge hole in the rooftop. You can jump down from here into the House with the Red Chimney.
