Resident Evil games tend to feature relatively short campaigns with lots of replay value, and Resident Evil Village is no exception. Passionate fans will likely play through the game several times in an effort to unlock infinite ammo, super-powerful weapons, concept art, and more. Another objective that players can focus on during subsequent playthroughs is finding all Goats of Warding. There are 20 of these collectibles hidden throughout the village and they are a great incentive to encourage gamers to explore every nook and cranny.

Anyone who destroys every Goat of Warding in Resident Evil Village will receive the "Heretic" Trophy/Achievement. For a more practical reward, players will also earn 16000 CP to be used in the in-game Extra Content Shop. This will go a long way towards earning cool unlockables, or power-ups that will be helpful on higher difficulties. Players don't necessarily need to go out of their way for the Goats of Warding during their first playthrough of the game. But on a second playthrough, it's worthwhile to seek out these collectibles with a handy guide to use as a reference.

Many gamers will come across a few Goats of Warding during natural play. Some of them are placed in plain sight. They also make a wooden wobbling sound that can be heard from a short distance away. Some of the Goats of Warding are extremely hidden. The following list will show the locations of all 20 Goats of Warding with a short explanation of how to find each one.

(1/20) Graveyard Goat of Warding

Near the main village plaza is a church with a save point inside. Atop the church is a goat that must be shot with a gun.

Players will climb a ladder up to the Attic after solving the puzzle in Castle Dimitrescu's Atelier. The next goat is atop a crate directly behind the head of that entrance ladder.

The first chance to grab this goat is after escaping the lady of Castle Dimitrescu. A stone bridge extends between the Ceremony Site and the Altar and village proper. Some stairs lead down below the bridge, and the Goat of Warding will be found in a dark nook.

(8/20) Cemetery Goat of Warding

With the Iron Insignia Key in hand, players can explore new areas around the village. Near the familiar church at the village center, this is a cemetery that was previously locked behind an iron gate. One of the goat collectibles is hiding beside a mausoleum at the southern extremity of the cemetery.

(9/20) West Old Town Goat of Warding

Ethan returns to the West Old Town area while searching for a house with a red chimney. Players with a knack for exploration will come upon a house marked with a violin symbol, where the Maestro's Collection is hidden. This goat is perched atop a pile of wreckage and firewood tucked between the house and a nearby shack.

(10/20) Suspension Bridge Goat of Warding

On the way to House Beneviento, players will have to cross a shabby old suspension bridge. While proceeding west along the bridge, the player can look to their left to see another bridge in the distance. A Goat of Warding is waiting to be shot down upon that bridge.

(11/20) House Beneviento Goat of Warding

Before heading inside House Beneviento, players should explore the exterior. On the southern end of the estate, a Goat of Warding is placed precariously on the ledge just beyond the iron fence.

(12/20) Windmill Goat of Warding

The first windmill in the Reservoir area is home to one of the wooden collectibles. This is the windmill that Ethan first attempts to use, but its crank breaks. Ethan returns to this windmill shortly after obtaining a functional crank from the second windmill. This goat will be easily found at the foot of a log pile if the player simply walks around the perimeter of the windmill platform.

(13/20) Moreau Goat of Warding

resident evil village goat 13

This is one of the trickier goats in the whole game. During the encounter with Moreau, players will be navigating a labyrinth of flooded houses and floating driftwood. Using the bridge and switch puzzle as a landmark, players can look northwest to see the distant Goat of Warding perched atop a wooden pole. A carefully aimed shot with a sniper or handgun will eliminate the troublesome idol.

(14/20) Boathouse Goat of Warding

After the Moreau fight, the player will have to make their way back towards the boathouse. They will find a new path leading through a broken windmill. Turning left after emerging on the other side of the windmill will place this Goat of Warding in plain sight.

(15/20) Otto's Mill Goat of Warding

After the brutal encounter with waves of lycans at the Stronghold entrance, players will proceed down a long spiral staircase. This goat is at the foot of those stairs, atop a stone barricade next to some buckets.

(17/20) Grinder Shaft Goat of Warding

When Ethan narrowly saves himself from behind blended by a giant turbine in the Grinder Shaft, players can proceed to the other end of the shaft opposite the turbine. The next goat is caught on the makeshift barricade.

(18/20) Factory Elevator Goat of Warding

The next goat is a tricky one that can be found on the factory elevator where the Duke plies his wares. When riding between floors B1 and B3, this goat can be seen on the red support girders along the elevator shaft.

(19/20) Factory Office Goat of Warding

Following the Sturm boss fight, players will come upon an office where they'll find Heisenburg's Diary and the Cigar treasure. Nearby is a secret vent that Ethan can crawl through to reach a hidden room. The penultimate goat is waiting within.

(20/20) Megamycete Goat of Warding

The final Goat of Warding can be found during a special segment near the end of the game. In the underground chamber housing the large Megamycete, players can look to the right of the grotesque being to spot a statue looking on from across a small body of water. The goat is waiting at the foot of this statue.

Hardcore fans will also want to put their observation skills to use in finding all the hidden files throughout the game. The greatest challenge awaits in Village of Shadows mode, but completionists will be well-prepared with upgrades purchased from the Extra Content Shop.
