Following the reveal of the Resident Evil Village launch trailer, fans of the franchise can finally experience the story following the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. In Resident Evil Village, players are set on a mission to rescue the daughter of Ethan Winters. While the events prior to starting the game are not initially clear, it becomes increasingly obvious that something terrible and dangerous has occurred. In the early stages of the game, players will need to find a way to break through a locked gate in order to proceed with the main storyline. This can be achieved by finding the elusive bolt cutters.
As with previous titles, in Resident Evil Village, players will need to explore and stock up on supplies throughout the game to survive. All the while, ignoring the many signs of danger and resisting one’s own survival instincts in order to continue moving forward. Once the player has acquired their first pistol, they soon come face-to-face with the newest enemy type in the Resident Evil franchise, a werewolf.
Once encountered, the player is attacked and thrown outside. This battle can be considered a bit difficult for some, as the player does not have much space to move around for this fight. Another setback could be that the player has limited ammo at this point, so every shot needs to count. With patience, players should be able to survive without taking on too much damage.
After eliminating the werewolf, players will need to return to the house where they met the man behind the curtain. This is the same house where they received their pistol. The bolt cutters can be found sitting on a shelf in a pantry-like storage room. Once picked up, they will be added to the inventory. Players can now break through the chains that are locking the gate located directly across from the large hole within the same house. Opening the gate will continue the main Resident Evil Village storyline.
Depending on how injured they are from their fight with the lycan, before progressing, players can choose to pick up the ingredients to craft a First Aid Med to heal their wounds. After the battle, players can enter the house on the left and pick up both the Chem Fluid as well as an Herb. Both of these items are necessary for crafting the First Aid Med. This sequel also includes nods to previous Resident Evil titles littered about. So, it may be worth further exploring the village before venturing on.
