Resident Evil Village revives many gameplay elements that longtime fans of the series will be familiar with. One such system is the inclusion of hidden treasure items. Players making their way through Resident Evil Village for the first time will surely be surprised when they find some of the beautiful valuables scattered throughout the horrifying landscape. Among these are Crystal Fragments, an item that will inspire many gamers to ask, "Is it okay to sell this?"

Among the secret collectibles hidden over the course of the game, Crystal Fragments are the hardest to find. Their locations are hinted at by the presence of a small sparkling light. These sparkles are usually difficult to spot, being placed in locations that are above eye-level or otherwise off the beaten path. A carefully aimed gun shot will cause the glimmering Crystal Fragment  to fall to the ground. Fans who played Resident Evil 4 or 5 in the past should be accustomed to searching for such oddities.

Upon checking the inventory, players will realize that items such as Crystal Fragments are categorized under the Treasures tab. All treasures will have an item description with some well-written flavor text. At the end of the description, most treasures will be described as Valuable. Some specific treasures are also described as Combinable. Anything that is "valuable" is meant to be sold to the Duke for money. Items that are combinable should be held onto, as they can be combined with other treasures to greatly increase their overall value.

What Are Crystal Fragments For in Resident Evil Village

Crystal Fragments are considered "valuable," but not "combinable." This means that players should simply sell them to the Duke as soon as possible for a nice sum of 2,000 Lei. It's a relatively small amount of money, but it adds up fast for observant fans who know how to spot the sparkling gems. There are many Crystal Fragments throughout the game, so there are plenty of opportunities to rake in some coin and buy all the supplies and upgrades that Ethan Winters will need for the battles ahead.

Achievement and trophy hunters may want to think twice before selling their Crystal Fragments, though. The Frugal Father achievement demands that the player not spend more than 10,000 Lei in a playthrough. On the flip side, selling Crystal Fragments could give just the push that hardcore gamers need in order to earn the Lucky Number 7 trophy. Careful money management is needed in order to possess the specific amount called for by the aforementioned achievement.

There are quite a few other treasures and collectibles to be found in Resident Evil Village. Players will need to solve difficult puzzles and conquer terrible foes to find everything the game has to offer. Those who know how to take advantage of the boons concealed throughout the village will come much closer to unraveling the Winters family's secrets.

Resident Evil Village is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
