Resident Evil Village is one of the scariest and most unique entries in the Resident Evil franchise. The game plunges players into a gothic nightmare, immersing them in a desolate, Eastern European village. Resident Evil Village features a truly impressive cast of characters, each representing different kinds of horror. Donna Beneviento focuses on the fear of puppets and dolls, whereas Salvatore Moreau leans into a more Lovecraftian form of horror.

Many of these characters are deeply disturbing, often in their own unique way. However, some characters have left a bigger mark on players than others. These are the creepiest characters in Resident Evil Village.

8 Karl Heisenberg

Karl Heisenberg is a member of the Four Houses and serves under Mother Miranda. Seemingly the most human out of the Four Lords, he runs the Heisenberg Factory, which harbors a dark secret. Heisenberg holds a deep grudge against Mother Miranda for kidnapping him and has secretly been creating an army of reanimated corpses to fight her.

He also plans to use Rose as a weapon against Mother Miranda, much to Ethan's disapproval. While Heisenberg's appearance isn't necessarily the creepiest in Resident Evil Village, he certainly has some dark motives that make him much more disturbing.

7 Salvatore Moreau

Salvatore is one of the Four Lords of the Village, residing in Moreau's Reservoir. After being infected by the Cadou parasite, he underwent a dramatic transformation that caused him to develop a hunchback covered in tumor-like growths. His mutation also gave him aquatic-like abilities, forcing him to live close to the water as a way of maintaining his condition. Isolated from the rest of the village, he finds himself longing for Mother Miranda's approval.

His obsession with Mother Miranda is incredibly creepy and pretty pathetic at times. To prove himself to her, he began experimenting on the villagers, and accidentally turned them into Lycans. Salvatore is unfortunately hideous, and his constant vomiting doesn't help his case. He's certainly an uncomfortable character to be around in Resident Evil Village.

6 Mother Miranda

Mother Miranda is the main villain in Resident Evil Village. Her motive is incredibly creepy - she kidnaps Ethan Winters' child, Rose, to use as a vessel for her deceased daughter, Eva. Mother Miranda is a particularly sinister individual, having kidnapped the Four Lords and later experimenting on them for her gains.

Despite these experiments, and the remarkable abilities the Four Lords gained, she deemed them a failure, and unfit for her purposes. Overall, Mother Miranda is a cold and calculating individual, with some creepy plans.

5 Lady Dimitrescu

Resident Evil Village Lady Dimitrescu Mercenaries

Lady Dimitrescu is certainly beloved by the gaming community, and her character design is a big reason for that. Debuting in Resident Evil Village, Dimitrescu is intimidatingly huge, standing at 9 feet, 6 inches tall. She towers over Ethan, making the player feel incredibly small and powerless around her.

Not only that, but some notes in the basement of her castle reveal some of the macabre goings-on that she has been conducting. Lady Dimitrescu would regularly send off her staff to be killed in her dungeons so that she could drain their blood for her sustenance. Regardless of how much her fans love her, Lady Dimitrescu is a deeply disturbing character.

4 Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela

Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela are the adopted daughters of Lady Dimitrescu. The daughters all show signs of being sadists, as they clearly take much pleasure in tormenting and killing their victims.

Their bodies are composed of flies, and they seemingly possess the ability to effortlessly shift between their human and swarm forms. Blood serves as their primary source of sustenance, and they appear to take great pleasure at the prospect of toying with yet another victim. The combination of their blood-stained appearance, supernatural abilities, and disturbing behavior makes the Dimitrescu sisters undeniably creepy characters.

3 Donna Beneviento & Angie

Resident Evil Village Beginning Of The Fight With Donna Beneviento

There's nothing much creepier than old dolls, and Donna Beneviento loves them. Throughout the game, she typically appears dressed in black attire, hiding her face, and often interacts with other characters through her unnerving doll, Angie. After Mother Miranda implanted her with the Cadou parasite, Donna acquired the power to release a mind-altering chemical, which was capable of inducing intense and aggressive hallucinations.

Ethan Winters becomes a target of these hallucinations, as Beneviento torments him with dolls that bear a striking resemblance to his dead wife, Mia. Without a doubt, Donna Beneviento is one of the most unsettling characters in Resident Evil Village.

2 Varcolac

One of the most terrifying encounters in Resident Evil Village is when players first come across the Varcolac. The beast will ambush the player, and savagely maul Ethan until he barely manages to slip away into an old building.

The Varcolac has a disturbingly uncanny appearance, similar to a creepy old puppet, with its huge, gaping mouth and piercing eyes. Players will either have to find a way to sneak past the skulking beast, or fight it head-on - once they gather the courage to leave the house they were cornered into.

1 The Baby

Resident Evil Village Baby Monster

Most Resident Evil Village players will remember their experience in the Beneviento House very well, and that's probably thanks to the giant baby they will encounter there. This horrifying apparition will hunt down players, making haunting gargling and giggling noises throughout the pursuit.

With no weapons, the player has no choice but to hide from this monster, unless they want to be swallowed whole by its gaping mouth. A source of nightmares for many players, the baby is undoubtedly the creepiest character in Resident Evil Village.

Resident Evil Village is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
