Capcom's recent Resident Evil showcase event primarily focused on Resident Evil 8, as was expected. However, the event also touched on some of the other Resident Evil content coming in 2021, like the Resident Evil Re:Verse multiplayer game. But one of the most surprising announcements at the Resident Evil showcase event was the confirmation that the franchise is crossing over with none other than The Division 2.

With The Division 2 being developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft, it's safe to say few expected to see it crossing over with Capcom's Resident Evil. But in an effort to celebrate the Resident Evil franchise's 25th anniversary, The Division 2 players will indeed be able to add some Resident Evil-themed cosmetics to their collection as part of a new apparel event. And luckily, Division 2 fans don't have to wait all that long for the event to kick off.

The Division 2 crossover event with Resident Evil starts February 2 and lasts until February 15. By participating in the event, The Division 2 players can unlock a variety of items related to the Resident Evil franchise. And those that simply log in to The Division 2 while the event is live will get an outfit based on Leon S. Kennedy's look from Resident Evil 2.

Other Resident Evil-related items spotted in the trailer include a helicopter with the Raccoon City Police Department logo, outfits based on Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, and what appears to be a skin based on the ever-mysterious Umbrella Operative HUNK. Full details as to what exactly The Division 2's Resident Evil 25th anniversary crossover event entails have yet to be revealed, but fans should expect more information as we get closer to the February 2 start date.

For those who may not be familiar with The Division 2's apparel events, they are essentially limited-time events mainly focused on unlocking cosmetic items. Division 2 apparel events were first added to the game a couple of years ago, and serve as a way to keep fans busy and engaged with the content long-term. They may not be as meaty as the episodic content or the Warlords of New York expansion, but they are still something for players to do.

Besides The Division 2's crossover with Resident Evil, the Resident Evil showcase included the Resident Evil 8 release date announcement, the confirmation of a playable demo exclusive to PS5 owners, and the aforementioned Resident Evil Re:Verse multiplayer game. It's clear from the event that Capcom is celebrating Resident Evil's 25th anniversary in a number of different ways, and it will be exciting to see what else the year has in store for franchise fans.

The Division 2 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
