Now that The Evil Within has brought the style and gameplay of Resident Evil 4 back to life, it's time for Capcom's follow up to co-op title Resident Evil: Revelations - a sequel that is, naturally, called Resident Evil: Revelations 2. Well, it's not like the Resident Evil franchise's numbering/subtitling system was going to get any less confusing. The game is also being released episodically, which brings even more numbering (and potentially even more subtitling) into the mix.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 casts players in the role of Claire Redfield in the singleplayer and makes Barry Burton's daughter, Moira Burton, playable in co-op mode. The two are kidnapped and taken to a remote, abandoned detention facility on an island and forced to escape and survive among the monsters lurking there. Claire is best suited to combat while Moira is tasked with using the torch to find hidden objects and ensuring that both of them are kept healthy.

Claire and Moira aren't the only playable characters in the game, though. Capcom has now confirmed that Barry Burton himself, along with a new character, Natalia Korda, will be playable in a separate campaign that will be available in each episode, as well as in two additional spinoff episodes that will be available to players who purchase the Season Pass. While Claire and Moira are trying to escape the facility, Barry and Natalia are on a rescue mission to try and find them. The video game industry isn't exactly short on stories about gruff dudes trying to save their missing daughter/wife/brother/goldfish, and it seems a bit inaccurate to say that Barry is Moira's "only hope" when she's partnered up with Claire Redfield and making her own escape from the island, but Resident Evil fans are probably just happy to see Barry back again. Meanwhile it looks like Natalia will play a similar role to Moira with an added psychic boost: she is able to use special abilities to sense enemies and hidden items.

Natalia was featured in the very first teaser for Resident Evil: Revelations 2, running through a frozen world in which people become zombified as the bracelets on their wrists turn from red to green. Moira and Claire have both been shown wearing bracelets with green lights in the trailers, so let's hope we never have to see them turn red.

Each episode will also come with a Raid mode, and players who purchase the full season box set (which unfortunately will only be available in Europe) will also receivean additional Raid mode character, Albert Wesker, along with an alternative costume for each of the main characters and a Raid mode stage pack that features stages from other Resident Evil titles.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Episode One will release on February 17th, 2015, followed by Episode Two on February 24th, Episode Three on March 3rd and Episode Four on March 10th. The game is set to release on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2015.
