Highlights

  • Capcom is reportedly working on remakes for Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica, surprising fans who were expecting remakes of other games.
  • Others claimed that Capcom was working on remakes for Resident 1 and Resident Evil 5 instead.
  • AestheticGamer, known for accurate leaks, confirmed the remakes and provided an update on the delayed release of Resident Evil 9.

The latest news from a reputable Capcom leaker has suggested that the company is developing two Resident Evil remakes: Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica. Capcom has found a great deal of success with its Resident Evil remakes, and so it's really no surprise that the company is developing more of them. However, RE0 and Code Veronica are definitely not what fans have been expecting when it comes to the next set of Resident Evil remakes.

Previous rumors and speculation have suggested that Capcom was actually gearing up to make a Resident Evil 5 remake and, in honor of the franchise's 30th anniversary in 2026, a new remake of the original Resident Evil game. Both projects seemed to excite fans, though many were disappointed that Capcom was seemingly not going to remake Code Veronica. If the latest leaks are to be believed, however, it seems that Resident Evil fans will be getting their Code Veronica remake after all.

The Scariest Resident Evil Games

Resident Evil has provided some of the most frightening moments in gaming, but some of its games up the fear factor to even greater heights.

AestheticGamer, a leaker with a history of accurate Resident Evil leaks, has claimed that remakes of both Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica are in active development, citing "many others behind the scenes" that gave them this information. More details on the supposed remakes, like when fans can expect to play them or how far they are in development, are unavailable at the time of this writing.

New Resident Evil Remakes Leaked

With Capcom having remade all the other main series Resident Evil games through RE4, it would only make sense for the developer to redo Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica as well. Code Veronica features some of the most important story developments in the history of the franchise, while RE0 is remembered for its unique mechanics that allowed players to swap between two different characters. Remakes for these games would have a ton of potential and come with their own unique challenges for the development teams, so it will definitely be interesting to see what happens.

Besides confirming the existence of Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica remakes, AestheticGamer also took the time to provide fans with an update on Resident Evil 9. While it was previously suggested that Resident Evil 9 would be announced in the near future and then released in January 2025, it seems as though the project has been internally delayed. According to the latest claim, Resident Evil 9's release date has been pushed back to late 2025 or early 2026.
