There are six humans currently playable in Resident Evil Re:Verse, the third-person multiplayer shooter that comes free with Resident Evil Village. Now, people have been waiting for this game for quite a while, as it has been pushed back multiple times, once to summer 2021 and then again to late 2022. The developers have said that there's a lot of content planned for after the game's release, but that still remains to be seen at the time of writing this.

In any case, now that's it out, how are each of the playable characters in Resident Evil Re:Verse, especially in comparison to each other? Well, let's take a look at all the Re:Verse character loadouts, one by one, and see how they stack up against the others from worst to best. The rankings will, of course, take into account the character's two weapons, their three skills, and their overall core stats.

6 Leon S. Kennedy

Weapons

Primary: W-870 Shotgun

Secondary: Matilda Handgun

Skills

Passive: Rookie Spirit

Dual Wield

Roundhouse Kick

First up is the iconic protagonist of Resident Evil 4, Leon Kennedy. It's a shame the guy is at the bottom of the rankings because he's such a fan-favorite sarcastic heartthrob. But, it is true that Leon has a kit of Skills that the player has to really work hard with to catch up to any of the other characters.

His Dual Wield is by far his best tool, as it allows him to lay into anyone coming his way with increased fire rate and ammo capacity from the second pistol. Then there's his Roundhouse Kick, which is his main knockdown tool. This kick is useful as it can knock enemies down so that Leon can lay into them while Dual-Wielding or blast them with his Shotgun. His passive, Rookie Spirit, is by far his worst aspect, as this isn't a game where players often "just barely" escape from whoever is shooting at them, so there aren't many opportunities for the HP regen to really go off. And last up for Leon are his guns. His Matilda Handgun is pretty reliable, especially with two of them, but nothing worth bragging about. Meanwhile, his W-870 Shotgun is absurdly powerful up close but almost pointless at any distance more than 10 or so feet.

5 Claire Redfield

Weapons

Primary: MQ 11 Submachine Gun

Secondary: Quickdraw Army Handgun

Skills

Passive: Speedloader

Adrenaline Shot

Modified Alternator

Claire Redfield is the first example of a trap-based character here, and there are only really two others who could fit this description. Claire's "trap" is her Modified Alternator Skill which puts out this orb of "scrap" that sends out an arc of electricity away from it. When hit, enemies stand there doing the typical "shocked" animation and Claire has a second or two to unleash her MQ 11 upon them. The only problem is, setting this thing up can be tricky depending on how chaotic the current match is. Her other Skill, Adrenaline Shot, might seem great because it refills some HP and all her Stamina, but like Leon's Passive, players don't get away from each other often enough to even have time to heal.

Her own Passive, Speedloader, is actually very useful and is the main reason most Claire players heavily rely on her Quickdraw Army Handgun. This Skill allows Claire to both evade and attack as she instantly reloads her Handgun whenever she rolls. The Quickdraw Army is a revolver so it has some extra power and kick to it, and her MQ 11 Submachine Gun is pretty decent as well in this department. But, both of them have some pretty sizeable recoil to put up with which can make it hard for her to fight at medium to long range.

4 Hunk

Weapons

Primary: LE 5 Submachine Gun

Secondary: MUP Handgun

Skills

Passive: Tragedy of the Reaper

Active Cloaking

Assassinate

Hunk, the mysterious soldier that he is, was an example of a character that players were constantly complaining about in the Steam discussion boards when Re:Verse first launched, and there's one primary reason for this. To put it simply, all three of Hunk's Skills synergize with each other, so if Hunk manages to sneak up on a player while Actively Cloaked to use Assassinate, he'll do bonus damage (basically a one-shot kill), and the duration of his Cloaking is extended thanks to his Passive. This can easily make him seem like an overpowered character if that's all players ever see from Hunk.

However, outside of this combo, Hunk is relatively mediocre in every other category. His MUP Handgun is okay but not great, his LE 5 Submachine Gun is equally mediocre and his overall Weapon Power is pretty low compared to everyone else. Because of this, most players just tend to play him like a full assassin and just run around trying to get a cheeky Assassinate.

3 Jill Valentine

Weapons

Primary: CQBR Assault Rifle

Secondary: Samurai Edge Handgun

Skills

Passive: Last Escape

Land Mine

Hot Dogger

Jill Valentine, the take-charge female protagonist of Resident Evil 3 and its fantastic RE3 Remake, is thankfully one of the better characters in Resident Evil Re:Verse. The reason why she's so good is simply that she's a more reliable trap-type character than Claire is. Her Land Mine Skill is so easy to set up and so useful, her Hot Dogger Knife has great damage and also has versatility with the dodge variant, and her Passive Skill Last Escape is almost always in-use. Not only that, but her guns are great as well since the CQBR is a reliable primary at any range and the Samurai Edge is equally dependable.

There is no aspect of Jill that could be considered "weak" in this game, and the closest thing that could even be argued is that she's a bit squishy in terms of health, but most players don't live long enough against her to do much damage anyway.

2 Ada Wong

Weapons

Primary: Crossbow

Secondary: Broom HC Handgun

Skills

Passive: A Spy's Wisdom

Pipe Bomb Arrow

Somersault Kick

Ada Wong is the ultimate skill-based character in Re:Verse and that's not up for debate. Unlike every other character that has a semi or fully-automatic gun as their primary weapon, Ada has a single shot Crossbow. Additionally, she's the second-squishiest character in the game. But, to compensate for this her Crossbow does incredible damage (especially if it's a headshot) and her Skills give her plenty of movement and setup options.

Pipe Bomb Arrow is just a fantastic AoE option that can be used to finish off an opponent Ada hit with her Crossbow or vice versa. Meanwhile, Somersault Kick is an incredibly close-range punish with a guaranteed knockdown so Ada can freely aim for a headshot with her Crossbow while they're on the ground. Her weakest aspect, her Passive Skill A Spy's Wisdom, is still good even in its own right as long as the player pays attention to it when they're in a critical state. Ada Wong herself is just an all-time fan-favorite character of the franchise, so a lot of people have been playing as her in Re:Verse.

1 Chris Redfield

Weapons

Primary: Dragoon Assault Rifle

Secondary: USM-AI Handgun

Skills

Passive: Pride of the Original Eleven

Indomitable Spirit

AMG-78 Powered Exoskeleton

And finally at the top of the top is Chris Redfield, the boulder-punching meathead who starred in Resident Evil 5. Honestly, Chris Redfield might be a controversial top pick for some, but no matter what, he's always part of the conversation when people are talking about overpowered characters in this game.

Not only does his Indomitable Spirit Skill give him the window to turn any fight against his attacker, but if they get close enough he can almost guarantee the win with his AMG-78 Exoskeleton punch since it knocks them down long enough for him to unload with his Dragoon AR. Again, like Jill, there really isn't any aspect that Chris falls short in. But, unlike Jill, his base stats are also just fantastic overall. Although, he is equal to everyone else in Transformed Power and Survivability when turning into a Bioweapon monster, but that's simply because those stats can only be increased using RE Coins.
