Resident Evil features tons of iconic imagery, from the slow turn of the first zombie, to main hall of the Raccoon City Police Department. Well, this incredible Raccoon City police car is definitely one of the flashier ways to let people know one is a Resident Evil fan, appearing as if it should be abandoned somewhere in a zombie-infested city.
In its 25 years, Resident Evil has taken players all over the world in order to tell its increasingly zany and horrifying stories of bioterrorism. Whether it's the mysterious mountain village of Resident Evil Village, or the claustrophobic city streets of Lanshiang, China in Resident Evil 6, everything returns to the classic tragedy of Raccoon City. The general location of the original Resident Evil, and the direct setting of Resident Evil 2 and 3, Raccoon City is where many of the series' most popular characters' stories start. Before performing roundhouse kicks and backflips, Leon Kennedy was a rookie cop in Raccoon City whose first day happened to be the start of the zombie apocalypse.
Reddit user Goregy shared to the Resident Evil subreddit an image of a Raccoon City police car spotted while out and about. Branded along the sides of the car is the instantly recognizable moniker and insignia of S.T.A.R.S, the Special Tactics and Rescue Services division of the RPD. In the trunk are a variety of airsoft guns—denoted by their orange muzzles—including a monster of a mini-gun typically used by Nemesis, the classic rocket launcher, and none other than Barry Burton's .44 Magnum, "Silver Serpent."
A reoccurring question in Goregy's replies (even though it not their vehicle) is if the car itself is legal on the road. There are laws against the driving of former police vehicles, as to not create confusion between legitimate and retired ones.
Simply put, this car is street legal, the lights on its roof being covered in an "OUT OF SERVICE" wrap, and all the guns in the trunk just airsoft. Considering the driver still has the bars up in the back seat, and the trunk is indefinitely full, it would appear that this car really is to show off to other Resident Evil fans, and not be very practical.
Between the weaponry, the decals, and the car itself, one has to wonder the amount of work that went into detailing the car with all the Resident Evil references. It genuinely looks like a car that drove off the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City set, but the fact that it is hand done makes it all the more special. Getting reactions from Resident Evil fans like Goregy likely makes the whole thing worth it in the end.
