Dead by Daylight features a plethora of survivor characters, but its killers are arguably more impactful for the game’s iconography. Original characters on both the survivor and killer sides are fantastic, but once players have explored a character’s Bloodweb to their satisfaction, the choice of which survivor to pick only boils down to which skin or cosmetic they would like to equip.

Killer characters are much more unique. Resident Evil recently returned to Dead by Daylight with its second DLC Chapter, and it is exciting to see how the game further implements the action-horror franchise’s characters into its asymmetrical multiplayer mechanics. It is unknown if this collaboration is intended to persist with a third DLC Chapter, but Dead by Daylight still has a ton of incredible Resident Evil antagonists to pull from if it is able to hang onto the license.

Legacy Resident Evil Antagonists Dead by Daylight Has Yet to Tap

Dead by Daylight swung hard at the pitch for its two Resident Evil DLC Chapters. Its killer characters are Nemesis from Resident Evil 3 and Albert Wesker from multiple Resident Evil installments, both of whom are phenomenally influential in the Resident Evil sphere. Hunk is not an antagonist in Resident Evil, though he has also been included in Dead by Daylight as a skin for Legion. To many fans’ surprise, the Tyrant, also known as Mr. X, has not been adapted as a killer character.

Mr. X is who fans believed might be the killer character in Dead by Daylight’s first Resident Evil Chapter, particularly because it brought along with it a detailed realm map for the Raccoon City Police Department. Mr. X’s heavy footsteps pursuing the player contributed to some of the most suspenseful moments in the Resident Evil 2 remake, and it would be great to see him appear in Dead by Daylight at some point.

Otherwise, killer candidates from early Resident Evil titles could include William Birkin from Resident Evil 2 or Osmund Saddler from Resident Evil 4. But instead of looking back to formative installments, Dead by Daylight would have its hands full of potential killer characters in Resident Evil’s two latest entries.

Resident Evil 7 and Village more than make up for their lack of protagonists with an abundance of colorful antagonists. For example, Ethan Winters and his uninspired dialogue are terrifically accentuated by how charismatic and sadistic the Baker family is. Jack Baker’s whimsy is matched only by his aggression, while Marguerite Baker’s hideous bug body would be terrifying to see in Dead by Daylight. Lucas Baker could be more difficult to implement as a killer unless his abilities revolved around environmental traps, but his parents would both be exceptional additions with unique abilities.

Moreover, an obvious choice for a Resident Evil antagonist in Dead by Daylight is Lady Alcina Dimitrescu. This character could incorporate her daughters, Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela, or alone be an imposing presence in any realm map. Like Mr. X, it is surprising that Dead by Daylight has not yet taken advantage of Lady Dimitrescu’s popularity. Other Resident Evil Village antagonists that could be considered are Donna Beneviento and Angie, Salvatore Moreau, Karl Heisenberg, or Mother Miranda, giving Dead by Daylight a deep well to draw from in future DLC Chapters with multiple options for killer characters.

Dead by Daylight is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
