The PS5 version of Resident Evil Village may have some performance issues, it has been suggested by a prominent horror game insider. The issues with the game, which is also called Resident Evil 8 by fans, could apparently be seen in the Resident Evil Village announcement trailer revealed in June.

In a post on ResetERA, noted horror game insider AestheticGamer, or Dusk Golem, revealed that Resident Evil 8 has a "terrible performance" and a "terrible frame rate" on PS5 "as of a few months ago." The game reportedly "runs perfectly" on the Xbox Series X but the development team is "having some troubles getting the frame rate stable" on PS5.

This rumor will be concerning for fans excited to see the multi-platform title really push the PS5's hardware. Another AestheticGamer/Dusk Golem leak from June revealed that the Resident Evil 8 development team is aiming for a "stable" frame rate of 60 frames per second. The leak had told fans not to be concerned about the trailer running "weirdly" during the PS5 reveal stream, but these new comments will not give fans much confidence.

A leak from players who got to play a test of the game also confirmed that Resident Evil 8's werewolf-style enemies are incredibly fast, difficult to pin down, and can dodge gunfire. The enemy sounds like a pain to take down normally, but poor frame rates could only add to the frustration if they are to make it into the release version of the game.

The leaker also said that there could be "any number of reasons" for Resident Evil 8's issues on the console. The game is being developed using the RE Engine, which was designed from the start to support next-generation console game development. RE Engine isn't named as the cause of the performance problems but it allows the development team to make "more optimizations" to support the PS5 version of the game.

A new Resident Evil Village trailer is expected this month, says AestheticGamer/Dusk Golem though so fans may not have to wait long to see if the development team has been able to optimize the PS5 version of the game. There's also a huge amount of information about the game that fans don't know. Fans want to know which organization will be the antagonist and what the link is between Resident Evil 8 and Nemesis, the enemy which features in the Resident Evil 3 remake. These details and the frame rate concerns could all be addressed the next time fans get to see it.

Resident Evil 8 Village is set for a 2021 release for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
