A couple of days ago, Resident Evil 7 fans were disappointed to learn that the game's free Not A Hero DLC expansion, starring franchise mainstay Chris Redfield, had been delayed out of its planned spring 2017 release window. While fans wait patiently for a new release date for the next Resident Evil 7 DLC, Japanese magazine Famitsu has revealed a number of details about how it will play to help tide them over.

Since players will be playing as Chris Redfield in the DLC instead of Ethan Winters, they will be far better prepared to take on monsters and other threats. This will be reflected in the game by Chris being fully equipped for the mission at-hand, with access to the powerful Albert-01 handgun, a new HUD that shows how much ammo Chris has left and reveals his health status, and an oxygen tank that lets him explore harsh environments. Overall, it sounds like the Not A Hero DLC will be a much more action-oriented experience than the core game.

From a story perspective, Not A Hero will attempt to connect Resident Evil 7 to its predecessors. How it will accomplish this remains to be seen, and while Capcom is still keeping many story details a secret, we do know that the DLC will be about Chris attempting to secure a target.

Further details on Resident Evil 7's upcoming Not A Hero DLC aren't available at this time, but there has also been a couple of leaks that may give fans a better idea of what to expect from the game. According to the leaked information, which has yet to be confirmed by Capcom, Not A Hero will introduce a new enemy type to the game as well as a new ability.

The new enemy type is a twist on the Molded monsters that players encountered many times over in the main game. If the leaked information is to be believed, this new type of Molded will spew toxic gas, which should force players to change up their combat strategies a bit. As for the new ability, Chris will reportedly be able to punch any enemies that happen to get in his way, which is consistent with the brute force his character has displayed in recent games.

When Capcom gets closer to finishing the recently delayed DLC, fans can expect more concrete details about Not A Hero to be made available. In the meantime, fans are free to speculate about what else Not A Hero will have in store, and how it will bridge the gap between past Resident Evil games and Resident Evil 7.

Resident Evil 7 is available now for PC, PS4, PlayStation VR, and Xbox One.
