Right before Luis and Leon’s minecart-riding adventure in Chapter 11, they are trapped in a blast furnace by two Gigantes. The bad news is that one of the giants is steel-clad; it will not go down easily. But there’s hope. With a bit of help from Luis, Leon can kill both with a push of a button.

In the original Resident Evil 4, Leon had to take care of this boss fight on his own. But the remake pairs him up with Luis, who can distract one of the giants, giving Leon enough time to blast both.

How to Kill the Two Giants in Chapter 11

The quickest way to kill Dos Gigantes is by dropping them into the hatch. For that, the player must open the blast furnace trapdoor while the giants are standing over it. This will send both into the lava and kill them instantly.

Another method for defeating El Gigantes is attacking their Plagas. With enough headshots, a parasite pops up from the back of these creatures, which is their weak point. The player can either shoot these parasites or knife them to get the kill.

Tips for Defeating the Dos Gigantes

The Dos Gigantes can be tricky for beginner RE4 players, and they may need the following tips to make it a quick—and lucrative—battle.

Don’t Use the Blast Furnace

Players who want to farm money are better off without using the blast furnace because it takes away the Gigantes' gemstones. Normally, the armored Gigante drops a red beryl, and the unarmored one a yellow diamond. But dropping them into the hatch destroys these treasures as well.

Kill the Unarmored Giant First

Defeating the unprotected Gigante triggers a cutscene in which Luis attaches a pile of dynamite to the back of the armored one. This makes it a lot easier to kill him because the explosion cracks his armor open, exposing his Plagas.

If possible, kill the unarmored giant with a rocket launcher when he is near the armored one. This can instakill both. (Note that the trick only works if the player shoots the unprotected giant, not the armored one).

Have a Magnum Handy

The magnums in the RE4 remake are excellent weapon choices for the Dos Gigantes battle. Whether it’s the Broken Butterfly or the Handcannon, one round of shots with these guns is enough to drop a giant.

The Resident Evil 4 remake is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
