A Resident Evil fan points out that the new Separate Ways DLC for Resident Evil 4 remake includes a funny and clever reference to one of Albert Wesker's iconic speeches from Resident Evil 5. This new Resident Evil 4 DLC lets players experience Ada Wong's dedicated single-player campaign, which was included with the release of the original Resident Evil 4 for Nintendo GameCube.

Resident Evil 4's Separate Ways DLC was rumored for months following the remake's release this past March. After the release of The Mercenaries DLC, various updates to Steam's database suggested Resident Evil 4 was due for new DLC before the end of the year. On September 14, Capcom finally revealed that the Separate Ways DLC would be released one week later on September 21, alongside a major free update for The Mercenaries. The update would allow Resident Evil 4 fans to play as Ada Wong and Albert Wesker in the popular bonus mode.

Resident Evil 4 player Cj-the-man started a playthrough of Separate Ways and immediately noticed a funny reference to Resident Evil 5 during some dialogue between Ada and Wesker. As Wesker briefs Ada on the current situation and her mission, he notes that an entire nearby village is infected by the Las Plagas parasite. Cj-the-man and other avid Resident Evil fans quickly noticed that the "complete local saturation" line by Wesker is a reference to his speech aimed toward Chris and Sheva in Resident Evil 5.

Near the end of Resident Evil 5's story, Wesker is infected with the Uroboros virus and proclaims that it will be released into the atmosphere, ensuring "complete global saturation." The spread of the Uroboros virus would eliminate most of the planet's population and give Wesker the opportunity to reign over humanity's last remaining survivors as a self-proclaimed god. Despite the seriousness of the situation, Wesker's delivery of the "complete global saturation" line became a popular meme online, and many fans believe it's one of his best lines in the entire Resident Evil series.

Resident Evil 4's reference to Resident Evil 5 is very clever and shows that Capcom has kept up with the online Resident Evil community for many years. Although the Separate Ways DLC was released months after the game's launch, Capcom took its time to fully develop Ada Wong's campaign with brand-new scenes. In addition, the development time also allowed Capcom to make further gameplay refinements and insert the Resident Evil 5 reference.

Resident Evil 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
