Being one of the longer Resident Evil titles, the Resident Evil 4 remake pits Leon against a wide variety of adversaries. Each of the locations he visits, from the village to Ramon Salazar's castle and finally the research island, all have their own specific enemy variants. One of the enemy types found only in the research island is the Regeneradors.

One of the many experimental bioweapons created by the Los Iluminados, the Regeneradors are most known for their ability to regenerate almost any injury inflicted on them. These enemies were the bane of those who played the original Resident Evil 4, as the controls aren't as fluid or responsive as those found in more modern games. But now that Capcom has remade the game, these once-formidable foes aren't as scary as they used to be.

The Almost-Indestructible Regeneradors

The Regeneradors' accelerated healing abilities are brought about by the multiple Las Plagas parasites that dwell within the creatures' bodies. As long as players don't kill all the parasites inside them, the Regeneradors will continue rebuilding themselves or evolve into the stronger Iron Maiden variant. While there are multiple ways of killing Regeneradors, such as exposing the Las Plagas with gunfire and then shooting them, the most straightforward method is by affixing the Biosensor Scope onto a compatible weapon.

The Biosensor Scope allows players to easily see the Las Plagas parasites inside the Regeneradors when aiming down sights. While the scope can be attached to rapid-fire weapons like the CQBR Assault Rifle and LE 5 Submachine Gun, the most efficient way to eliminate the parasites is by using a powerful, single-fire weapon like the SR M1903 or the Stingray. Using these weapons not only ensures that enough damage is done to each parasite but also carries the bonus of possibly penetrating two or more parasites at once - an essential task should players want to get the "Two Bugs, One Stone" achievement for the Resident Evil 4 remake.

The Remake's Modern Controls Make Fighting The Regeneradors Too Easy

Since the remake features drastically improved controls over the original game, players may find that taking care of these almost-invincible enemies is too easy. Leon can now strafe when aiming, removing the need to constantly reposition whenever a Regenerador gets too close. General aiming has also been overhauled and is far less shaky and more accurate than before. Add in some of the special Attache Case charms that improve Leon's run speed and ammo crafting capabilities and the Regeneradors don't stand a chance against a late-game Leon build.

It also doesn't help that the situations the Regeneradors find themselves in are less than optimal for them in the remake. There are only a few instances where the Regeneradors shuffle slowly toward Leon when he isn't equipped with the Biosensor Scope; preferring instead to surprise him by falling out of pre-placed body bags in close quarters areas. Even if the Regeneradors manage to get a scare out of players, they can simply avoid their scripted encounters or preemptively eliminate them. One of the Regenerador encounters even lets Ashley in on the fun, as she can drop one of them to their doom by letting go of a specific lever.

Regeneradors are supposed to be one of the scariest enemies in Resident Evil 4 as they can only be found during the final third of the game. Their regenerative and evolving abilities coupled with their overwhelming numbers made their encounters one of the scariest parts of the original game. But because of the remake's evolved controls and predictable enemy placements, the Regeneradors can only repair themselves so many times before Leon overwhelms them with his government training and arsenal of weapons.

The Resident Evil 4 remake is now available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
