Resident Evil 4 remake follows Leon Kennedy on his quest to rescue Ashley Graham from the deranged cult that kidnapped her. At the beginning of the game, Leon doesn't have too many weapons at his disposal, but he can obtain more by progressing through the harrowing lands he finds himself, completing puzzles, and visiting the Merchant.

Leon can obtain some serious firepower in RE4 remake if players want him to, but some weapons are harder to acquire than others. The Striker is arguably the best shotgun in the entire game, but it does come with a few downsides.

How To Get The Striker Shotgun In Resident Evil 4 Remake

Buying the Striker in Resident Evil 4 remake

During Chapter 1 of Resident Evil 4 remake, Leon can obtain the W-870 shotgun by exploring the Village Square and locating the weapon inside one of the buildings. Once acquired, the W-870 will quickly become one of the best weapons in Leon's arsenal, but it's arguably the weakest shotgun available in the game. During Chapter 6, Leon will be able to acquire the Riot Gun, a much more powerful shotgun that only costs 28,000 Pesetas, but players hoping for something better will need to continue playing until they reach Chapter 10.

In Chapter 10, Leon can interact with the Merchant to purchase the Striker shotgun for 38,000 Pesetas. At this point in the game, players should have acquired more than enough Pesetas to afford it, but those struggling should consider selling any treasures Leon has acquired before moving on. The Striker can be purchased from the Merchant any time after Chapter 10, but players should definitely consider buying it as soon as they can, especially if they don't already have a shotgun.

Is The Striker Shotgun Worth It?

Those who have already acquired and upgraded the Riot Gun may feel slightly apprehensive about purchasing the Striker. The Riot Gun, when fully upgraded, is the most powerful shotgun in the game after all, but that doesn't mean that the Striker is without its uses.

  • The Striker, when fully upgraded, boasts an impressive 16.2 Power, but the SR M1903 outclasses it with 19.2.
  • The Striker's upgraded Ammo Capacity is 24 and can be increased to 48 with the Exclusive upgrade, while the SR M1903's maximum Ammo Capacity is 12.
  • Both the Striker and the SR M1903 share the same Reload Speed when both have been completely tuned up.
  • The Striker's upgraded Rate of Fire is 1.57, and the SR M1903's is 1.10, making the Striker the faster shotgun.

Though they are pretty similar weapons, the Striker is arguably the best shotgun in Resident Evil 4 remake, mainly because of how fast it is and the amount of ammo it can hold. It may not deal as much damage as the SR M1903, but the speed at which it can fire does more than make up for this downfall.

When fully upgraded, the Striker can tear through groups of enemies quickly and with ease, and though the SR M1903 is just as capable, the Striker is slightly more suited to the task.

Resident Evil 4 remake is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
