As players reach Chapter 7 in the Resident Evil 4 Remake, they'll find themselves thrown from the village and forced to navigate an imposing castle. Once inside, Leon meets the sinister Ramon before beginning a trek with Ashley through the dark halls of the massive location. There are tons of useful items to discover in this area and players are likely to come across an array of treasures, including some contained in large barred square boxes. These boxes have a special stand and a strange square-style lock beneath them.
To obtain the treasures inside these boxes, players need to head further into the castle and find a unique Key. Here's all players need to know about how to open the Square Locked Boxes in the Resident Evil 4 Remake.
How To Open Square Locked Boxes In The RE4 Remake
To open the Square Locked Boxes scattered around the Castle, Leon will first need to gain access to a special Key Item called the Cubic Device. Thankfully, it's hard to miss this item as it's in a pretty obvious place. To reach the Cubic Device, players first need to progress far enough into the Castle to reach the Grand Hall (located just past the Courtyard in Chapter 9). Once in the Grand Hall, Leon and Ashley will need to enter a series of rooms and snag special animal heads to complete the ornate statue on the main floor. One of these doors leads to the Armory, where Leon can snag the Lion Head and then do battle against an array of armored enemies. After the enemies are defeated, Leon and Ashley will exit the room and head down a hallway. At the end of this hallway is a treasure chest containing the Cubic Device.
Where To Find Square Locked Boxes In The RE4 Remake
There are a total of five Square Locked Boxes present in the Castle in the Resident Evil 4 Remake. Once Leon has access to the Cubic Device, he can begin unlocking these special containers. Here's a look at where to find the Square Locked Boxes and what they contain.
- In the Audience Chamber - Contains the Justia Statue treasure.
- In the Save Room at the start of the Grand Hall - Contains the Butterfly Lamp treasure.
- In the Library as Leon(after opening the secret passage with the Lantern while playing as Ashley) - Contains the CQBR Assault Rifle.
- In the small room above the Library where Ashley throws the key to Leon.(Come back here as Leon to use the Cubic Device) - Contains the Golden Lynx treasure.
- In the Throne Room(Leon can only access this area in Chapter 12 after making it back into the Castle from the Depths) - Contains a Golden Chicken Egg.
