Capcom's Resident Evil 4 Remake has all kinds of handguns for players to choose from for quick-draw fire delights against hordes of infected Ganados. Handguns are some of the more basic but essential weaponry in the Resident Evil 4 Remake, regularly proving invaluable in a tight spot against a range of enemies, especially when pistol ammo is often more readily available.

The Sentinel 9 is one of Resident Evil 4 Remake's exclusive purchasable weapons, but players can also buy a whole host of weapons from the merchant using in-game currency. With so many choices available, it's sometimes tricky to decide which weapons to invest in. Fortunately, there is some handy information to choose whether it's worth getting the Sentinel 9.

How To Get The Sentinel 9 Handgun

Unfortunately, players can't buy the Sentinel 9 from the merchant as it's a DLC exclusive. To get the Sentinel 9, there are a few options. Players must own the Resident Evil Remake Deluxe or Collector's edition to view and access the Sentinel 9 handgun in the typewriter storage, like Resident Evil 4 Remake's skull shaker shotgun.

Alternatively, those players who own the Resident Evil 4 Remake standard edition can grab the Sentinel 9 handgun as an additional, separate DLC purchase for $1.99 in the Xbox store, allowing those who want to own all pistols to update Leon's case collection as they see fit. Players can also buy the full DLC bundle pack separately, including the exclusive Sentinel 9 and Skull Shaker weapons, alongside other extras like various costumes and the treasure map expansion. Like other weapons in the game, players can also equip the Sentinel 9 with the Resident Evil 4 Remake's laser sight for pinpoint accuracy.

Resident Evil 4 remake sentinel 9 comparison

The main advantage of the Sentinel 9 compared to other handguns, like Leon's starting weapon the SG-09 R, is its higher ammo capacity of 19 shots, so for players who like their sidearms big on ammo, it can be a good option. When compared side-by-side to the SG-09 R level 1 base stats, the Sentinel 9 is also slightly more powerful, but its rate of fire is marginally weaker. However, both have 4.0 precision and are upgradable with options to improve stats like power and ammo capacity, so in other ways, whether the Sentinel 9 is worth it is more about player preference. Excluding additional perks from the merchant's upgrade ticket, the Sentinel 9's max level upgrade stats are:

  • Power - 1.90
  • Ammo capacity - 31
  • Reload Speed - 1.30
  • Rate of Fire - 2.0

The SG-09 R's max upgrade stats include slightly higher power and reload speed but lower ammo capacity:

  • Power - 2.00
  • Ammo Capacity - 18
  • Reload Speed - 1.40
  • Rate of Fire - 1.52

Of course, there are often many better Resident Evil 4 Remake weapons, such as pistols like the Red 9, one of the best guns purchasable from the merchant. Therefore, players may want to compare the stats of the merchant's handguns according to what they are looking for before considering the Sentinel 9 as an extra purchase.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
