With Ashley at the mercy of Lord Saddler once again, Leon must fight his way through the Illuminados Stronghold to reach her in Chapter 15 of the Resident Evil 4 remake. In this penultimate chapter, things are ramping up to a climactic finale and an explosive confrontation. Covering events from the Stronghold to the Sanctuary, this guide will go over the play-by-play of chapter 15 in the Resident Evil 4 remake.
Stronghold
Staring at the base of the tower, take the stairs up to the roof and drop down the ladder to the right, where there is a typewriter and Merchant stall. From here, go left over the bridge and come to an area populated by Ganados.
At this point, Mike will arrive in his helicopter and take out the large group. To help with the fight, Leon can use the mounted gun on the roof of the building ahead.
At this point, more Ganados will appear, which Mike will help Leon deal with until a cutscene plays of him blasting the path forward. Run past the rubble and down the path until coming across another large area. Take cover from the guns and wait for Mike to take out the tower. Keep pushing forward, taking out any remaining Ganados, and head up the ladder on the left.
Up here, an anti-aircraft gun will rear its head from one of the buildings. The blue door ahead is locked, so take the stairs down to the right, where Leon will be set upon by a number of Las Plagas victims. Take them out using the explosive barrels in the area while taking cover from the mounted turret up top.
In order to continue receiving assistance from Mike, continue up the tower ahead, taking out any Ganados that pose a threat. When Leon reaches the top, he can use the turret there to attack the AA gun and clear the way for the helicopter. At this point, a number of Soldiers will run from the tower across the way, and Leon can use this time with the turret to take them out, as well.
Dropping down from the turret, head back down the tower, and Mike will blast the way forward. More Ganados will attack here and try to flank Leon, clear them out, and press forward.
Bulwark Gate
In the area ahead, two turrets will fire at the player. Take an immediate left into a tunnel and up a ladder where Leon can take cover and deal with any pursuers. Now, he can run along the walkways, keeping ahead of the turret fire, and deal with the turret users up close.
From the first turret’s location, take a left and pull the lever at the end of the walkway. Next, run back to the turret and fire upon the Ganados on the opposite platform. Dropping down, more Ganados will appear; once they’re gone, head under the far side platform and take the ladder up. Dealing with any remaining Soldiers, pull the final lever to raise the bulwark and head through.
Passing under the archway, climb the stairs ascending to the Cliffside Ruins. Up here, another cutscene will play, leading to a Novistador fight. With the bugs squashed, take the rightmost path along the cliff and into the Specimen Storage facility.
Specimen Storage
Inside, take a right, pushing through the hanging body bags and into the adjoining room. Turn the handle in here and roll under the closing door. Past some more body bags, an Iron Maiden will attack.
Shoot out its parasitic organs and proceed to the center of the room, where yet another one will appear. Once they’re both dealt with, turn the handle near the bars and make a run for the exit.
Sanctuary Approach
In the next room is a save room with a Shooting Range. From here, take a left, out the door, and into some more ruins. In this area, two Archers fire from above while camouflaged Novistadores lie in ambush. Taking the left path up the stairs, clear out some bugs and take out the RPG user on the walkway ahead.
Pushing forward, more Ganados will find the player at the base of the stairs. After killing them, go through the door – or window – on the left and head upstairs, taking the door on the right out to the roof.
Before Leon can exit the building, a Boarhead Ganado will bust through the door while more Soldiers and Plagas attempt to flank him from behind. Kill or run past them to adjust the turret in the adjacent building.
Running back to where Leon was ambushed at the base of the stairs, go forward and through the double doors at the summit into the Sanctuary.
Sanctuary
Through the doors, take the stairs up past the statue and head towards the altar where Ashley rests. Once the following cutscene ends, take Ashley forward between the crates and around to the right.
Follow the hallway down in between flashes of Las Plagas psychosis. Upon reaching the second white light, use Luis’ Key on the door to enter the Laboratory and place Ashley in the chair to end the chapter.
