Some Resident Evil 4 remake fans have just spotted suspicious activity on Steam that may indicate that there’s an update coming up soon. While it’s still early to know if this could mean that the eagerly awaited Separate Ways DLC will be out soon, many fans are hoping that's the case.

The Resident Evil 4 remake was a major hit. Recently, Capcom revealed that the Resident Evil 4 remake sold five million copies in only four months. It’s a pretty good mark for a remake, especially considering that titles like Resident Evil Village took five months to reach that same number. Naturally, then, fans are eager to know what future updates the game has for them.

Now, a Resident Evil fan profile called Resident Evil Polska spotted something very unusual that may indicate there’s more content coming up for Resident Evil 4. According to the profile, SteamDB shows that several files were recently added to RE4 on Steam and that they kept being updated for over eight hours, which could potentially mean that the update is large. Resident Evil Polska also wondered if this only meant that there was an update coming up, or “something more.”

Fans who are closely following the Resident Evil 4 remake probably know what “something more” means: the Separate Ways DLC, featuring the fan-favorite Ada Wong. While not officially announced by Capcom yet, a known leaker called Dusk Golem has recently predicted that Separate Ways will be out before the end of the year. Separate Ways was popular with fans, so it seems likely that it will return for the remake, but nothing official has been announced at the time of this writing.

While fans speculate more about expansions for current games, there’s still the chance of new Resident Evil remakes appearing in the future, and all eyes are turned to Resident Evil 5. The entry was once the best-selling Resident Evil ever made, with over 13.5 million units sold across all platforms (including re-releases, such as the Gold edition), so a Resident Evil 5 remake could certainly be profitable for Capcom.

Resident Evil 4 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
