A Resident Evil 4 remake player made a creepy mod that replaced Ashley with a Regenerador. Ever since the remake's March release, many players have already showcased various mods that change Resident Evil 4 characters' appearances. This one in particular might just give players a jumpscare.

Resident Evil 4 takes place in rural Spain, where special agent Leon Kennedy is tasked to rescue the US president's daughter, Ashley Graham, from a religious cult. Throughout the game, Leon has to fight against infected villagers and bosses while keeping Ashley safe. One of them is the iconic pale-white antagonist known as the Regenerador.

Regeneradors (or Regeneradores) are experimental bioweapons that are almost indestructible. The only way to kill them is to use a biosensor scope to spot and shoot the parasites inside their bodies. Otherwise, they will chase Leon down even when they're missing their legs, which has stoked fear into the minds of many players. To make things even more terrifying, a player known as zhoujihao on Nexus Mods made a mod that replaced Ashley's character model with a Regenerador, and the screenshots they uploaded look unnerving.

The Resident Evil 4 remake mod was just added to Nexus Mods on April 3rd, but it's already been downloaded over 200 times and viewed over 6,000 times as of writing. Many players found the mod both hilarious and terrifying. Meanwhile, others suggested that there should be a mod that turns Leon into a Regenerador as well.

Despite its creepy appearance, players with this mod would still be required to protect Ashley even in Regenerador form. Capcom managed to improve Ashley's gameplay and autonomy to give Resident Evil 4 players a better experience while protecting the president's daughter. Many players and gaming content creators have already expressed that the new Ashley was better than the original, but also noted that she should be able to help Leon during combat as well.

Overall, the Resident Evil 4 remake has received high praise from players and critics alike for its next-gen graphics and improved quality-of-life gameplay. The game may be getting review bombed, but it's still doing well in terms of sales. While many seemed to be excited for Resident Evil 4's new features, there will always be people who still prefer the original.

Resident Evil 4 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
