The Resident Evil 4 remake will reach the iPhone 15 Pro, recent iPad models, and select Macs on December 20. Capcom announced its release date mere days after debuting the iOS port of Resident Evil Village, which hit the App Store on October 30 as the publisher's first big vote of confidence for the gaming capabilities of the iPhone 15 Pro line.

The mobile versions of both Resident Evil games were announced by Apple in mid-September as part of the tech giant's product showcase that saw it officially unveil the 2023 iPhone series. Resident Evil Village then reached the App Store as a free app, allowing users to try out its demo section before deciding whether to shell out $15.99 for the full game and $9.99 for its DLC.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max can run games like Resident Evil 4 Remake, Death Stranding, and Assassin's Creed Mirage thanks to the A17 Pro chip.

Since the Resident Evil 4 remake was also treated to a well-received Chainsaw Demo on both PC and consoles, it's likely that the game's iOS version will use the same release model. Capcom confirmed that the mobile version of the $9.99 Separate Ways DLC will launch along with the base game on December 20. In the meantime, Apple users can already pre-order the Resident Evil 4 remake via the App Store. The (full) iOS version of the survival horror will retail at $59.99, same as its PC and PS4 counterparts.

The Resident Evil 4 remake will be available on the A17 Pro-powered iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, as well as all devices utilizing Apple's M-series chips: the M1, M2, and M3. In that respect, this upcoming port is going to be identical to the mobile version of Resident Evil Village. Since Apple's recent silicon is shared between its high-end tablet, notebook, and desktop lineups, the latest mainline Resident Evil game will also be available on a number of Mac, MacBook, and iMac models.

Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil 4 will take advantage of MetalFX, a resolution upscaling solution that's essentially Apple's proprietary alternative to Nvidia's DLSS. The game will require 19.3GB of storage space on iOS devices, thus being roughly 75% more compressed compared to its PC counterpart, as per its App Store listing. Physical controller support will also be part of the package, as was the case with the mobile version of Resident Evil Village.

Resident Evil 4 won't be the last AAA game to hit the App Store in the near future; an iOS version of Assassin's Creed Mirage is also in the works, with Ubisoft planning to release it in early 2024. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPad ports of Death Stranding: Director's Cut are scheduled to launch on December 2.
