Resident Evil 4 remake follows Agent Leon S. Kennedy on his quest to rescue Ashley Graham from the clutches of an infected cult. Upon arriving at Ashley's assumed location, Leon is forced to continue his mission alone, where he must fight his way through countless infected townsfolk in order to progress the story.

While progressing through each chapter of Resident Evil 4 remake, Leon can acquire new equipment that can aid him in combat. New weapons can be obtained by exploring the world, interacting with the Merchant, and completing various challenges, but some are only obtained after reaching certain points in the story. The Fighting Knife is one such item, but it won't become available until much later in the game.

Upon gaining control of Leon in Chapter 1, players will be able to make use of his Combat Knife when facing enemies. Aside from the Kitchen Knives and Boot Knives littered around each area, the Combat Knife is Leon's best means of close-quarter combat at the beginning of the game. This is largely due to its durability and strength, but better knives, like the Fighting Knife, can be acquired while progressing the story.

Resident Evil 4 Krauser Parry

The Fighting Knife will be obtained during Chapter 14by defeating Krauser in his mutated form. Once this battle has ended, Leon will automatically acquire the Fighting Knife and will then be able to make use of it in combat. During the first playthrough, the only permanent knives available are the Combat Knife and the Fighting Knife, but the Fighting Knife is by far the superior weapon due to its enhanced durability and power. That said, it can break if used too often, so players will need to find a way to repair it from time to time.

The Fighting Knife durability meter in Resident Evil 4 remake

While using the Fighting Knife in combat, players will see its durability meter at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. When this meter runs out, the knife will break, forcing Leon to rely on other means to defeat his foes. By the time the Fighting Knife is unlocked, the player will also be able to make use of the Combat Knife in its stead, but they should seek to repair the Fighting Knife whenever they get the chance.

The Merchant in Resident Evil 4 remake

To repair the Fighting Knife, the player will need to seek out the Merchant, interact with him, and then select the 'Tune-Up' option. From there, whatever weapons and equipment Leon has acquired thus far can be enhanced in exchange for Pesetas.

When the Fighting Knife is repaired, players can spend Pesetas to upgrade its power and durability. When its power and durability are completely upgraded, the Exclusive upgrade can be unlocked to double the Fighting Knife's overall power.
