There are quite a few pretty intimidating Achievements and Trophies scattered throughout the Resident Evil 4 Remake. Those looking to see and do everything possible in the latest release and obtain a Platinum status by completing the title 100 percent will definitely find themselves struggling in certain areas. Some of the achievements are downright punishing, requiring players to speedrun the game, complete it on a high difficulty, and achieve certain rankings through each area. Other achievements are tricky, forcing players to find hidden items or areas. One of the more puzzling trophies is Astute Appraiser, which requires players to sell a treasure to the Merchant for at least 100,000 Pesetas.
Here's how players can find and upgrade a treasure to sell to the Merchant for a huge sum in the Resident Evil 4 Remake.
How To Sell A Treasure For 100,000 Pesetas In The RE4 Remake
Although this achievement seems rather difficult at first glance, it's actually pretty simple, especially if players know where to look. During Leon's journey to rescue Ashley, he will come across an array of valuable trinkets and treasures, some of which have empty slots that Leon can fill with gemstones. Upgrading these treasures by slotting valuable gems into them is key to amassing a fortune, which Leon can then use to unlock new weapons and items at the Merchant.
Players can also make use of the special "bonus" structure for upgradable treasures, which will add a multiplier to the value of the item if players inlay certain combinations of gemstones. If players attempt to place gems into an item, they will notice a special menu they can open that will give them access to a Gemstone Bonuses sheet (X on Xbox, Square on PlayStation) that explains gemstone combinations In order to complete this challenge and unlock Astute Appraiser, players need to find a treasure capable of holding many gemstones and slot them in a specific order to receive a high-value multiplier.
An Easy Way To Unlock The Astute Appraiser Achievement In The RE4 Remake
Many of the treasures that players find in the later parts of the game have a solid base value, but even with expensive gemstones, it can be difficult to create anything that will sell for at least six figures. Thankfully, there is one item that can be grabbed in Chapter 10 that makes this achievement a breeze for players that have been holding on to their gemstones. Players won't be able to access this item until they've progressed far enough into Chapter 10 to reach the Throne Room. After a cutscene, Leon will find himself in The Depths, where he must navigate through a strange underground area before emerging into a Cryogenics Area by squeezing through a crack in the wall.
Just before this crack in the wall, players will spot a body, and next to it, they can pick up a treasure called the Elegant Crown. It's very hard to miss this treasure, as it's out in the open and sits at the end of a linear path that players must travel down to progress from The Depths and into the Cryogenics Area.
What makes this crown so useful is that it contains five slots for inlaying gemstones, which is rather rare. The crown itself has a base value of 19,000 Pesetas and will hold three square gems and two round gems. To get the best value out of the crown, players will want to slot in top-tier gemstones in the form of Yellow Diamonds (round gems worth 7,000 each) and Red Beryls (square gems worth 9,000 each). By entering this exact combination, players will also unlock the Duos & Trios bonus, which will increase the value of the crown by 1.8x, bringing the total sale price to 108,000 Pesetas. Once players have sold the fully inlaid crown to the Merchant, they will unlock the achievement.
