Leon and Ashley gain access to the Grand Hall during Chapter 9, where they must work together to open the way forward. In order to open the hidden door that leads deeper inside The Castle, they must locate the three statue heads hidden throughout. To acquire the lion head, Leon needs to defeat a group of Armaduras, some of the most dangerous enemies in Resident Evil 4 remake.

Leon faces an Armadura in Resident Evil 4 remake

Players will first encounter Armaduras upon entering the Armory in the Grand Hall and dropping down to the floor below. Interacting with the lion head in this area will cause the suits of armor around the room to come alive and attack. Unlike most of the other enemies in Resident Evil 4 remake, these suits of armor are exceptionally difficult to kill due to the armor they wear.

Leon aims at the Plaga inside an Armadura in Resident Evil 4 remake

The only way to damage an Armadura is to attack the exposed Plaga seeping out from its neck. All firearms can be used to do this, but shotguns are much more reliable due to the high damage they deal as well as the range they have. Once enough damage has been dealt, the Armadura's helmet will fall off, exposing the Plaga within.

Once the helmet has been removed, the Armadura will begin moving a lot faster than it did before. To avoid getting hit by its sword, the player should ensure to maintain as much distance as they can, all while shooting at the exposed Plaga. The Armadura will eventually die after it has taken enough damage.

Throwing a Flash Grenade at Armaduras in Resident Evil 4 remake

The easiest way to defeat an Armadura is to remove its helmet and then throw a Flash Grenade. The Plaga inside these suits of armor are extremely vulnerable to bright lights and will die if they are exposed to any. To make the most of this weakness, the player should only throw a Flash Grenade when the Plaga inside each Armadura in the area is exposed. If timed correctly, each Armadura will die.

Ashley finds a lantern in Resident Evil 4 remake

Upon returning the three statue heads to the headless statue in the Grand Hall, players will be given control of Ashley. Unlike Leon, Ashley does not have access to firearms or knives, so players will be forced to rely mostly on stealth in order to survive. At the beginning of this segment, Ashley will acquire a lantern that, when shined at Armaduras, will briefly stagger them.

Though Ashley is unable to kill the Armaduras roaming around this area, freezing them with the lantern can be a huge help, especially when she gets cornered. For those who wish to defeat these Armaduras later, they can return to the Library when they regain control of Leon to complete the Merciless Knight request, which involves defeating an especially powerful Armadura and its two sidekicks.

Resident Evil 4 remake is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
