In the world of Capcom's Resident Evil 4 remake, there is nothing better than a formidable weapon to take care of the hordes of shambling, infected villagers that are threatening to tear Leon's head off. Forget the pistols and the rifle; a shotgun can be effective both as crowd control and for dealing with things up close with no quarter given.

While the game certainly provides many options for Leon to potentially pick up, the weapon that is known as the Skull Shaker is a more elusive pick-up. For players wondering just how to get the Skull Shaker in Resident Evil 4, this guide has all the relevant information.

How to Get the Skull Shaker in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Resident Evil 4 Remake Skull Shaker combat

As a premium shotgun in Resident Evil 4, the biggest obstacle to getting it is not gameplay related. Rather, the only way players can get their hands on this weapon is through real-life transactions. Only those who have purchased the Deluxe or Collector's Edition of the game can receive the Skull Shaker.

In addition, players will also receive other goodies, including two skins for Ashley and four for Leon, additional filters, the Sentinel Nine pistol, the Sunglasses accessory, additional treasures, and even a soundtrack swap option to bring back the early 2000s. There is good news, however, in that the Skull Shaker is also available separately for just $1.99, so those on the Standard edition can still enjoy the pain it brings.

Choose the mode of purchase, and the Skull Shaker can then be found in any of the storage spaces that can be accessed at any typewriter. Getting this weapon early in the game does allow Leon to be more adept at clearing enemies that come his way.

Using the Skull Shaker in Resident Evil 4 Remake

As a sawed-off shotgun, there is no doubting the Skull Shaker's prowess up close. At close range, most of the enemies in the game can be outright defeated or staggered immediately. The problem with the weapon is its limited ammo capacity, which holds only two rounds at any given time. The power might be overwhelming, but it does leave room for the undead to close in. Upgrades are needed to keep the weapon viable, but as progress is made, better alternatives will become available to Leon.

Resident Evil 4 (2023) is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
