Resident Evil 4 Remake is Capcom's highly anticipated re-imagining of their action-horror classic for savvy veterans and newcomers alike. Players who've experienced the original can expect new twists and the iconic moments they know and love. The El Gigante boss fight is one of these encounters that holds very similar to the original game. Leon will come across this large enemy during Chapter 4 of Resident Evil 4 Remake. Players should prepare once the objective points Leon back to the church with the Church Key. Stock up on ammo, healing items, and repair the combat knife at the Merchant Hideout by the lake. From the hideout backtrack to the Quarry to see El Gigante break out of its cell and get ready to fight.

Strategy

gigante-weak-spot

El Gigante takes damage over its entire body, but headshots will be the quickest way to hurt it. It will be visibly bothered by headshots until it screams in anger and the parasite will stick out of its back. This is the weak spot so keep firing at it. A pistol with a laser sight equipped will come in handy for accuracy while it moves. If the parasite isn't shot at it will retract and require more headshots to draw out again. When the parasite has taken enough damage El Gigante will kneel down in pain.

gigante-stun

This is Leon's chance to climb atop it using the A/X button.

gigante-slash

Once Leon is in position use the RT/R2 button to hack away at it with the combat knife.

El Gigante Attacks

Try to stay behind and underneath El Gigante. Avoid its wild swings as some will end up grabbing Leon for damage and force the player to use the Knife to escape. Occasionally it will stop and wind up for a charge across the arena at Leon. There is ammo, healing items, and kitchen knives in the small shacks on the sides of the arena. El Gigante may rip these from the ground and toss them at Leon especially if he spends too much time in one. Run underneath the boss to dodge this. An evade prompt will appear on-screen for Leon to dodge El Gigante's jumping attack. All the boss's attacks will be more frantic and quicker when the parasite is exposed.

The Dog

If players helped the dog caught in a bear trap outside the Village Chief's Manor in Chapter 3 it will return to aid Leon. The dog will act as a handy distraction and then bite at the boss's legs. This will trigger El Gigante into bringing the quarry's rock wall down on its own back. Use this moment to unload on the parasite while it's stunned. Repeatedly attack the parasite to defeat this boss. Loot the Yellow Diamond from the body once it's down for good.
