For the past couple of years, Capcom has been busy re-introducing some of its classic Resident Evil games to a new generation of players. Last year, the company released Resident Evil 2 remake, and earlier this year, the reimagining of Resident Evil 3. Currently, the studio is taking a break from remakes and is preoccupied at the moment with the development of Resident Evil 8, which is the upcoming new entry in the long-standing survival horror franchise.

However, players are now wondering what's next for Resident Evil after the release of Resident Evil 8. At the moment, rumors strongly suggest that Capcom will be developing a remake of Resident Evil 4. Although the studio still hasn't confirmed this, a remake of Resident Evil 4 is likely to happen given that it is one of the most popular games in the franchise. But, if Capcom does decide to reimagine Resident Evil 4, which game should it remake next?

Resident Evil Code Veronica

One of the most highly-request remakes within the Resident Evil franchise is the 2000 survival horror game, Resident Evil Code Veronica. Interestingly enough, immediately after the release of Resident Evil 3 remake, many thought that Code Veronica will be the next game to receive the remake treatment. The reason for this is because, in Resident Evil's timeline, Code Veronica's events take place immediately after the destruction of Raccoon City, which was chronicled in Resident Evil 3. As previously mentioned, Capcom's plans for its next remake remains unclear, but as it stands, it appears that the studio will be skipping Code Veronica in favor of Resident Evil 4.

To the uninitiated, Resident Evil Code Veronica follows the story of Claire Redfield who is in pursuit of her lost brother Chris, after discovering in Raccoon City that he went to Umbrella's headquarters in Europe. After infiltrating the facility, Claire was apprehended by Umbrella and was thrown in a prison located in Rockfort Island, that was recently infected by the t-Virus. At the moment, it is still unclear whether a Code Veronica remake will ever see the light of day. However, if there is a Resident Evil game that deserves to be re-released again, many would agree that it's Code Veronica.

Dino Crisis

Another franchise that deserves the remake treatment is Dino Crisis. To those unfamiliar, Dino Crisis is a survival-horror franchise that was born out of the success of Resident Evil. However, after the release of the third game in the franchise, fans quickly lost interest in Dino Crisis, and the series has remained dormant for nearly seventeen years now.

As far as the possibility of a Dino Crisis remake, it is worth noting that Capcom said several years ago that if fans would want it, then they would have no problem remaking the franchise. Several months ago, reports surfaced that Capcom Vancouver pitched a new Dino Crisis game to its Japanese counterpart. Unfortunately, Capcom Japan denied the pitch and it appears that anything Dino Crisis related won't see the light of day in the foreseeable future.

Onimusha 3: Demon Siege

Onimusha is an action-adventure hack and slash franchise that made its debut back in 2001. Although the series is not as popular as Resident Evil,Onimusha still has a solid fanbase and is names as Capcom's eighth best-selling franchise. Of course, Onimusha fans would probably agree that among the many games under the franchise, Onimusha 3: Demon Siege is the one that deserves to be remade.

To the uninitiated Onimusha 3 was released back in 2004 and many believe that it solved all of the problems players had in previous installments in the franchise. The game featured full 3D environments that helped make combat more immersive than ever before. At the moment, it is currently unclear whether Onimusha 3 has a high chance of being remade. However, it is worth noting that the last Onimusha game that was released is an HD remaster of Onimusha: Warlords, which is the first entry in the franchise. Given this, it wouldn't be unlikely for Capcom to develop a full-fledged remake of Onimusha 3. However, it is apparent that if Capcom would ever go the remake route again, it is more than likely that it will be another Resident Evil game.
