The Resident Evil 4 Remake has various weapons for players to buy to try their luck against gruesome and ferocious enemies, including some new weapons. Fans of sniper video games may be eager to get their hands on the game's sniper rifle-like weapons for some long-distance Ganado-shooting fun and mayhem.
The Resident Evil 4 remake has a single sniper rifle weapon with attachable scope for powerful and deadly headshot hits. However, later in the game, players can get other rifle-style weapons to add to their case collection: the semi-automatic Stingray rifle and the fully-automatic CQBR Assault Rifle. Getting the sniper rifle may prove invaluable in many different situations across the game and a handy choice for those who love to snipe.
Where To Get The Sniper Rifle (SR M1903)
Players can buy their first sniper rifle weapon, the SR M1903, towards the beginning of chapter 2 as soon as they escape their industrial prison. It is primarily a rifle weapon with an optional scope attachment, which makes it excellent for sniping. After the cutscene with Resident Evil 4's iconic merchant, head outside to speak to the merchant and view the range of weapons and items for sale.
At this point in the game, players can buy the SR M1903 for 12,000 Pesetas and get its scope attachment for free in chapter 2, so it's best to buy it then rather than risk paying for the scope in later chapters. For optimum sniping, it's essential to get and equip both items. Otherwise, the rifle's zoom is limited. To attach the scope select and click the Parts drop-down option in Leon's case inventory.
Is The SR M1903 Sniper Rifle Worth It?
Until players later get hold of the Stingray in chapter 7, one of Resident Evil 4 Remake's best weapons, the SR M1903 Sniper Rifle is a handy weapon to buy. It packs a punch and lets players put a bit of distance between themselves and often intense close-quarters combat. When players first buy the SR M1903, they test its mettle across a maze-like landscape with enemies positioned at different heights.
The SR M1903 is undoubtedly worth getting in the opening chapters, as players can use it to kill Ganados with a single shot to the head and sweep areas clean from a distance. However, its major drawback is a slower reload time, but it is a good starting option, especially when powerful takedowns are helpful, like during boss fights, and some players may stick with it for its power.
SR M1903 Compared With The Stingray
Like the original Resident Evil 4 game, players can toggle their zoom on the SR M1903 using the scope for pinpoint accuracy. Although the SR M1903 is primarily handy for shooting long-distance and hard-to-reach enemies, such as those throwing explosives behind cover, it can also be a powerful close combat weapon with or without the scope removed. It's also one of the best weapons to upgrade first with options to increase its power, ammo capacity, reload speed, and rate of fire, albeit expensive, between 6,000 - 20,000 Pesetas each.
Some players might prefer the faster Stingray semi-automatic rifle when attached with a scope for its triple power against weak points. For many, it is perhaps a better sniping choice, as there's also no Leon reloading animation between shots. However, the SR M1903 is still a powerful sniper rifle that has its uses. Like other weapons, it's also compatible with the Resident Evil 4 Remake's Biosensor Scope, an upgrade on the original game's infrared scope, enabling players to locate enemies' weak points by highlighting the parasites inside, such as when killing Regenerators.
The Resident Evil 4 remake is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
