In Resident Evil 4 Remake, shotguns are powerhouses in battle. They are powerful enough to kick back an enemy horde, and cut off some limbs along the way. Resident Evil 4 makes the most of that power, and the updated version is no exception.

In the remake, players get access to four shotguns, each with unique mechanics. Players can upgrade each of these weapons to get an exclusive perk on top of the already high stats. The following is a list of all these bone-crushing weapons, along with how Leon can obtain them in-game.

All Shotguns

DLC guns included, the remake of Resident Evil 4 has four shotguns: The W-870, Riot Gun, Striker, and Skull Shaker. Of these, the first can be obtained for free, and the last is only granted to Special Edition owners. But the other two, Riot and Striker, can be purchased from the Merchant.

W-870

Resident Evil 4 Remake W-870 Shotgun-2

The W-870 is a pump-action shotgun with a max capacity of 10 shells and a max power of 10.1. It’s the first shotgun the player can obtain, and they can get it for free in the first Chapter during the Village ambush. If they miss out on it here, the shotgun also becomes available at the Merchant site from Chapter 2 onward.

To get the W-870 for free, enter the house next to the tower in Village Square. It can be found on the second floor next to the closet.

Riot Gun

Resident Evil 4 Remake Riot Gun Shotgun-2

In the Resident Evil 4 remake, the Riot Gun is a semiautomatic shotgun with high accuracy and power. A fully upgraded Riot Gun is as precise as 3.50 and has a whopping power of 19.20, the highest among all shotguns in the game.

The player first comes across this weapon in Chapter 6 after talking to the Merchant. They can purchase the Riot Gun for 28,000 Pesetas at any point from this Chapter through the rest of the game.

Striker

The Striker shotgun in Resident Evil 4 remake

The Striker is a mag-fed shotgun in the RE4 remake with a drum magazine, a circular mag with a max capacity of 48 shells. At max, it has 16.2 power, making it the second-deadliest shotgun in the game. However, its wider spread makes it less effective in long-range combat than some of the other shotgun choices.

To get the Striker shotgun, the player will need to buy it from the Merchant in Chapter 10 for 38,000 Pesetas.

Skull Shaker

RE4 Skull Shaker

Resembling a Winchester-style classic weapon, the Skull Shaker is a lever-action shotgun in the RE4 remake. When fully upgraded, Skull Shaker has 9.07 power, high enough to dismember a Ganado or two and stun giant bosses.

To get this weapon, the player must either purchase the game’s special edition (Deluxe or Collector’s) or pay for it as a separate DLC.

The Best Shotgun in RE4 Remake

Considering its price, precision, and power, the Riot Gun is the best shotgun. By fully upgrading this weapon for 400,000 Pesetas, the player gets 19.20 power, which almost compares to a magnum. On top of that, the gun already comes with a 3.50 precision, which is close to a handgun’s accuracy.

The Resident Evil 4 remake is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
