While the industry at large is interested in remaking classic video games, there is someone who is more keen to look back over the years, as a Resident Evil 4 fan is "demaking" the recent remake, bringing it to the Game Boy Advance SP. As one of the highest-rated releases of 2023 so far, Capcom's reimagining of the iconic 2005 RE4 is more than living up to the hype, with plenty of fans and critics praising this modern take for feeling fresh but classic at the same time.Of course, it's not just the base game that's entertaining people. The modding community has been hard at work on Resident Evil 4, bringing the world a slew of tweaks and modifications, some of which are silly but entertaining. With a new take on the original story that falls more in line with current expectations, not to mention a huge boost to the visuals that make the game look pretty incredible, the latest remake from Capcom is making a lot of waves, and not just in horror.RELATED: Resident Evil 4 Dev Totally on Board With the 'Moushly' MemesSpeaking of the visuals, there is someone who is eager to turn the clock back several years to see what Resident Evil 4 would look like as a retro title. As spotted by The gamer, Twitter user @3DSage wants to experience the remake as a handheld release, specifically by porting it to Nintendo's Game Boy Advance SP. A brief clip demonstrates the current work in progress, showing a very pixelated Leon Kennedy in an even more pixelated shooting gallery. The creator says they were inspired by the RE4 remake to see if they could make it compatible on the much older device, with plans to hopefully add more to their port.

While it's not quite as iconic as Nintendo's original Game Boy, the Game Boy Advance SP was, as the name suggests, an upgraded version of 2001's GBA, which in turn was a more sophisticated successor to one of the most influential handheld consoles in history. Discontinued in 2009, the SP is not really around anymore, but it's nice to see that some people are still interested in keeping the device alive in this modern gaming era.

This is also not the first time someone has demade a Resident Evil game. There have been many downgrades to the long-standing survival horror franchise, going as far as turning Village into a Castlevania-style platformer or imagining the more recent RE titles as having the graphics and fixed camera angle features of some of the older entries.

Resident Evil 4 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
